Alleys, one could argue that the recent improvements in staff disposition and approach can be linked to this forum. I would certainly be suspicious if the entire Armageddon staff claimed that no decisions were influenced by any discussions that were presented here.

Topkekm8s seeks the silicon throne. He threatens Jcarter's majesty and grace with his commonwealth ways. (re-watched the Tudor's recently forgive the old timey language).

I skimmed it. It was some kind of hey people don't like people you shouldn't engage in griefing or pointless arguments. Try and use your time productively even with people you don't like. I'm not even sure why it was moderated, seemed like a big nothing post.

Little Prince is a great book. It's also astoundingly depressing for a children's book which is... you know... very French (which are the people who wrote it).
Armageddon is Dark Sun based so what is the state of the Dark Sun world/geography? Perhaps that's the answer?

Someone might be able to argue that because all the elemental gates are located within the Known world (for some reason) that the passage of a person beyond the edge of the map is impossible because their magicks will not work at such a distance from a gate (open or closed).
You could also chalk it up to it's a game and thus must have limits on rooms.
You could also infer that travel is possible beyond the edge of the map but requires staff assistance to achieve and would be a one off events and not a repeatable affair without staff assistance (again).

What I consider a text-based RPG (not RPI because the definition of RPI is a bit more strict than even this and most games on the internet can't even do this qualifier) Coded Support/Automated Feature - The game has to have some form of game feature which does not require player collaboration, judges, or staff arbitration to function. Such as space travel, grid development, crafting, political influence system, territory influence system, combat, scavenging/foraging, medical code, yada yada yada. Perma-death - The game has to have some form of non-consent perma-death. Some way, some how, a players character must be able to die without them being able to influence the situation via pk, mobs, story, or staff event. Roleplay centric - The game has to have a focus on roleplay. (most subjective of the trio) This is one of those you know it when you see it features but I would argue that one easy way to determine if a game is roleplay centric is kill someone in the middle of a public setting and see who freaks out and who shrugs. RPIs need all 3 of those plus no ooc channels, IC/OOC separation enforced, normally some form of character approval. Whether it's a newbie zone that players can create their character in and wait for approval or an app system like arms. You need death to NPCs as a feature. And a whole host of other stuff. Normally if you get the big 3 down you're pretty much an RPI or RPI-like. Just have to tap down all the other little features to get the diehard fans to agree. EDIT - Brief comment the reason I started out with definition for "text based RPG" is because the term and the qualifiers were selected to be more permissive than RPIs but while still retaining the core tenants of the RPI label. Thus if you can nail all 3 you're fairly close or are actually an RPI.

There is a reason this thread has the word shameless in it.

Bad timing leads to a double post in 1 day. We have just done our 2nd major information release for Project Redshift. We have released our Draft B cultural documentation to the public for feedback and criticisms! You don't even need to go to Optional Realities to read it: Project Redshift Public Document (Seedship)If you need it to be on Optional Realities to give it the time of day and/or you want to give feedback: optionalrealities.com/forums/index.php?topic=124.0
