Hello again. I saw some comments about the Guild times with Gin and Quick and all the crazy in between, I would like state some of the facts and myths.
First things first: I will not answer every question, partly because it has been a long time and I do not remember everything. But most of what happened with Gin/Quick time were quite extraordinary/memorable so a lot of the important stuff is still fresh in my mind. But also, I will try not to post too much spoilers, but some of what I write here may yet be spoilers about some game secrets that may yet to be found by you guys.
Yes, I was the player of Gin, the mindbender/assassin who led the Guild around 2006-2008. We started with a small crew of a few people and grown from there. We were marked as villains of the game right after we killed CAM and Shiran and we were never perceived as anything else for the rest of our time. Living in rinth, being members of an infamous mafia organisation called the Guild.
I will state some facts first:
1) We never wanted vampires (or undead in general) amongst us. That was force-fed to us.
Let me start from the beginning of the undead in the rinth. The whole undead/vampire plot was initiated by Bhagharva around 2004. At the time I was playing Serpent, the Guild leader. In those times, there was east and westside of the rinth, with both sides having a few players from time to time. When Serpent became the Guild leader, we established a standing crew that did business with everyone for a long period of time. As Serpent, I did not tolerate mages in the rinth. I forced them out and get gemmed. Because once gemmed, I could control them through a templar. All the templars were in my pocket, so it was working out. At this time, Quick was a secret elkrosian elf passing out to be a pickpocket.
It started with Halaster changing the magick code, adding a lot of spells. Suddenly the rinth started to crawl with mages. At first I kept sending them out to get gemmed but later on, the elven mages simply started to hide in the rinth. Quick disappeared, and a few nilazi started to show up from the elven side. Then came an undead sorcerer to the rinth. It was elf. I think it was Bhagharva's avatar but I don't know for sure. Soon enough, there were rumors of undead.
You can check my posts from these times, that I was entirely against having so many mages/supernatural in armageddon. It was frustrating for me, being a PC leader that virtually controlled the west side of the rinth, I could literally do nothing against these mages. Being an assassin of reputation, the mages still did not dare to confront me. Quick surfaced as a vampire elkran and the rest of the elven mages started to turn ghoul as well.
I called Quick to a meeting in Folley and he came, not as a groveling elf that I knew from before but as a vampire who is the leader of the eastside. We sat down at one of the tables, smoked spice and told each other it is all going to be alright. It was like the scene from the movie "Heat"
Right after this meeting, we had an eastside/westside war on our hands.
Remember: These were the times the psions were not common in Allanak. All of the information gathering was done through bribing people. So, the level of player involvement in this war was quite immense. Both Quick and me, we were trying to outdo each other, learn who is siding with who and kill each other's critical peons. We each killed a fair amount of underlings before we started hunting each other. Let me give you a nice example: Q uick bribed people to learn my routine walk from Folley to the southside, and he set up a trap there. And I learnt that he learned my routine and just that day, I changed my routine. It was facsinating to hear this IG from Quick while I was playing Gin, he remembered those times too.
Anyway, there was a skirmish between east/westside and Quick was "killed" in the fray as well as a few PCs. But the next day, Quick was still alive. That is when I realized that I can not win this war without hiring mages. So I started hiring gemmed PCs to fight Quick off. But soon someone (not someone in my crew) killed Quick.
The undead did not immediately end after Quick. A few months afterwards another elven sorcerer undead showed up and asked to meet me. I met him and Bhagharva's avatar at the time. I was given the option of allying them in return of 10% cut. I refused, not wanting to do business with mages. Another month after that, I was killed in front of folley by this sorcerer, who put walls of blades and right in front of the Folley (literally, I could see them if I bothered to look west from the bar) and summoned me through them. Thus ended my career with Serpent.
The undead thing carried out for a while but after Serpent died, the westside of the rinth turned pretty much dead and I think Bhagharva lost interest.
2 years later, I special apped Gin, hoping I would be the right hand of a leader PC and stay that way. As soon as I got to rinth, I learned that Quick was resurrected too. Imagine my surprise and frustration that my nemesis is back just when I want to play another criminal rinther. I tried to hope that it was some other copycat PC pretending and decided that I would stay the fuck away from him, and not find out otherwise.
To my surprise, he found me. I saw him in the rinth, and he fucking chased me until Folley. I hoped I would be safe there but no, he came in and told me to walk with him. Then he interrogated me. I was sure I would not survive the encounter, but found out he was compliant with the Guild. He interrogated me just like I would do it when I was Serpent, and he told me that he would personally kill me if I pissed off anyone in the Guild.
I tried to talk why Quick is allowed in Guild ranks, but the mul leader at the time told me to stop questioning stuff. Later on, I learned that the Guild Staff animated the leader NPCs and told the leader of the Guild to "use" Quick. That he was only allowed in the rinth, as long as the Guild leader wanted him in.
There was other undead too. There was a warrior ghoul ... Whose name escapes me. And there was also a sorcerer, as always. So, mul got killed by this ghoul, and Quick took it on himself to kill the ghoul. That got the Bhagharva (or the undead staff, whoever else I do not know) really pissed. The undead sorcerer called in for a meeting and in the meeting with the undead sorc, bhag came with an avatar. He said there is no need to pursue a war. We will cooperate and accomplish things together. That there are greater things at stake and we have to work together. We said okay to that, since there was no demand from us.
1 day after this, Bhag's avatar contacted me IG and said he is sending me a "gift". That gift was Spider, the ghoul warrior. He did not even allow me to respond, and that is how we got our second undead.
From that point on, there was always 1 ghoul with us. As soon as one of them got killed, Bhag would send us another.
So, Quick was brought back from the dead and forced to us before I even started playing there. And a non magicker ghoul was sent by bhagharva.
That was the total undead we had in our ranks: Quick, and 1 mundane ghoul. Gin was 100% human, just like Marin, or Jace (Sera) and the rest of the crew.
I will write about Quick's story next.
