We have the game I used to staff on joining the ranks! So exciting for me but hopefully a good gaming choice for people looking for a fantasy game. Optional Realities is a community for text-based RPGs? Why do we call them Text-based RPGs and not RPIs or MUDs or MOOs or MUSHes? Because it's way easier to git Text-based RPGs on a banner and also way easier for people unfamiliar with the genre to understand from the title what it is. We focus on articles related to storytelling, design, or staff philosophy. The forum has various games which fit our definition of Text-based RPG and you can try them out and post your opinions about them without fear of moderation. We have slightly more rules than the Shadow board because we're maintaining a relationship with the games listed and contributing articles... Or we're a radical splinter group of the shadowboard bent on drawing all these games to a neutral meeting and poisoning their drinks. In my experience it is as thus...
Your attractiveness is improved by setting your description locations. Thus setting your 'groin' description had a mechanical reward to it. You can be as descriptive or non-descriptive as you like. The secondary purpose for this is if you wear or remove clothes it will appropriately cover the descriptions linked to locations.
So no you are not required to describe your groin. You are reward in improved attractiveness for having your descs done. It also serves some minor coded purpose for clothing/equipment due to coverage code.

You can read all the design and storytelling articles in the world, but at the end of the day you need to pick your codebase. Will it be softcode MOO, MUSHclient scripting language, a diku derivative, or something else? Japheth came down with a cold and it appears he was cutting a very tight release date meaning that the game was not pre-stage and he just had to cut the ribbon but that there was actual development he wanted to finish. No one could have predicted he'd have gotten sick and lost 3 days to that.
Supposedly it is coming online this monday sometime.
