The arm staff once again taking a step down the path of rightness and wisdom. gdb.armageddon.org/index.php?topic=49078.msg875266#newTLDR - They have updated their codebase to more frequently 'cycle' causing NPCs to respawn more frequently and for items to be saved to rooms and characters in a more regular manner. Thus reducing reimbursement requests.

Just a remark by staff which lakes vocal inflection and thus comes off as snarky due to readers being trained to read snark due to other staffers habits.

Magic rings are actually not accurate... A krathi has the ability to imbue an enchantment into an item. This can be a sword or a pair of pants. The most code efficient means of doing it is rings though because they can be hidden by gloves and they're easy to carry. The method of making a magic item is first selecting the item, lets pick an obsidian ring. Then you need to collect the components to properly cast the spell. If you succeed then the item is enchanted... depending on the variant of the spell it will crumble to dust when the enchantment wears out or it will be permanently enchanted (the most valuable magickal item). If you fail the casting I believe it destroys the target item too... I suppose you could cheese the spell to destroy corpses enchant them then have them poof.

I was discussing Armageddon versus SOI: Laketown (alpha) with someone last night. The fact of the matter is that Armageddon is a game that players can create, do things, have things, have stories, all without a single staffer ever having to look at them. This is because of the amount of automation in ARM because it is a mature game in terms of development. SOI: Laketown hasn't reached the same level of automation yet. It takes longer for characters to get inertia and self-sufficiency.
What's this mean? I can create a character and minute 1 of day 1 I can be out making money out buying new items out getting an apartment out getting a mount out socializing in a bar. I can be as visible in public as I want or I can have a whole 'life' without interacting with other players at all. So staff stepping back and enabling instead of dictating is completely feasible. The game already runs itself, that's one of the reasons it's still around.

Sounds kind of weird. A world where magical creatures demand their rights. I once heard that she writes former ARM stories. Is the setting of her books supposed to be a variant of the setting she proposed for ARM 2?

Random Questions
1. What kind of illegal/criminal/pirate-y things would you want to be able to do in a spacefaring scifi game? 2. Do you believe that enslaved/kidnapped roles be that short-term or long-term are fun for the right people and should be supported? 3. What kind of tools/gadgets/equipment would you most want to see in a spacefaring scifi game?

Calavera retired last I heard, also I would imagine that the staff would not approve of Calavera using the request tool for non-arm communication.

If anyone has the ooc contact information of Calavera. Please convey to them that I would be very interested in a short 15 min chitchat with them (not about ARM). They can reach me in a manner of their choosing or I can contact them, just PM me or check my profile for my SNs.

advent-truth.com/ --- This is a DragonBall Z MUD with an RPE design. I have some friends that play it when they just want to relax and relive a DBZ episode , I tried it but my communist Russian mutant talking bear was only so interesting.

No people would think it was really Nyr posting. I think it achieved snarky sentience.
