With Tuluk closed, good luck! It was pretty easy to subsist on bread and fruit up there.

To be 100% fair, Haven does not bill itself as an RPI. It lists itself as an RPG.

Our development cycle as of this moment is aiming for 18 months which would put our launch sometime in 2016. We will have alpha and beta testing phases though that will be purely testing and letting people break as much shit as possible like MMOs do. They will be limited time as well.
But as I tell my development team. It will take as long as it takes, we're doing it right. No rush. No commitments until we have a product.

We're in the 9th week of development! Keep an eye on the forums and OptionalRealities articles for more information on Project Redshift.

I think it honestly might have been one of those, we're not getting the bang for our buck out of the Tan Muark and it pays off for us to nuke them because it removes the joking but sekritly jealous waterfall comments from the GDB.

MUDs - Multi User Dungeons tend to be more hack and slashy with all of the systems being automated. Its most common codebase is DIKU which the majority of engines are derived from. MOO - M(something) Object Oriented tend to be a hybrid between MUDs and MUSHes in terms of code vs soft systems. HellMOO is the most famous MOO I know of. MUSH - No idea what the acronym is. These tend to be 'soft systems' where players interact with each other and staff act as unseen GMs and sometimes they'll have automated dice rolling systems that give you results but don't make coded effects take place. It's a much more co-operative RP experience but can be weakened by people not wanting to play the victim. A good MUSH is www.kushielsdebut.org/index.php/Main_PageMUX - I have no idea They are all text-based games which is why we just call our section Text-based RPGs. Easier for noobs who have never experienced the genre to dip their toe into it that way.

Just going to put this right here. If you don't care about the new community site or Project Redshift but you are interested in what various game staff have to say on game design, roleplay, and other topics. Than this is the thread for you. I will be updating this thread whenever we post a new article or announce a contest. Why? Because I don't think you should have to religiously visit Optional Realities just to read articles and get in on sweet contests that's why. Also it's in the title, shameless plugging. The first article is by me - optionalrealities.com/optional-realities-an-introduction-2/The next article is written by a former storyteller from a popular text-based RPG. It'll be out soon! The first contest will be announced soon as well.

It's worth noting that due to the difference between an RPE, RPI, and whatever other tag games give themselves. Optional Realities' lists them as text-based RPGs (or games) with the only requirements being permadeath, roleplay focused, and have automated systems. Haven is much closer to a MUD than a MUSH in my experience playing there. There were actually a couple of MUSHes I wish we could have listed but they didn't meet the requirements. Like Kushiel's Debut.
Population Based on my best guess: Armageddon > Sindome/Haven > SOI/LabMUD/EoE/BurningPost

Gameplay > 'Realism' so yes if delves are to codedly powerful to entrust to noob and you want an elven option open, you make some contrived reason for celves to not have the coded benefits of delves or...
The issue is the staff could have taken a different tact and distinguished the elves more thoroughly than the documentation already does or made city elves halfbreeds altogether and made them halfbreed tribes. That would have been a good separation.

Because it was a well executed, very thematic, brief animation. I personally thought it was aces, the newbie panic just put the cherry on top.

The same reason some people who migrated all the way from the cradle of civilization sometimes don't eat pigs. Cultural bias.
