I think there was some announcement on the GDB about OOC communication being bad and ruining plots and how they caught these 2 players and now they had to cancel the plot or something. Check the news/announcements on GDB. The gist of it though was there was a meteor strike, created a cave/cavern/underground spot, GMHs were all into trying to find metal or something out of it, why investigating the cave people got mindbender effects on them or something, Allanak was obviously interested in it, then it all got put on pause.

Idle speculation returned
Hey remember 1-2 years ago when the GMHs were investigating that meteorite with the weird mindbender side effects in the death cave and then someone 'spoiled' it OOC and they nuked the plot. I wonder if it's been over a year and they're ready to trot out a revamp of it? Seeeeeeeeeems like it.

Was the description of events and the # of characters and the 'types' of characters soft admission of being a staffer trying to engage with the community? If so I think the general consensus has always been if staff came here (or anywhere not moderated by them) and said. I am staff, I am this staff, I am speaking my person non-staff opinion or official staff opinion. That would probably get you razzed but a fair few people would try it out see if it led to anything productive in terms of dialogue.
If it is not soft admission of being staff is it against the rules to discuss that information? If yes, welcome to the rulebreakers!

Explicitly and publicly limiting a vague and highly hyped rolecall to a very few is one of the reasons people discuss staff pets, staff favourites, staff friends, staff cliques, whatever. The very concept of a public rolecall with no transparency doesn't really inspire much confidence. Now to be fair to staff even nowadays I constantly see very adequate RPers doubt themselves and rather believe staff have favourites than put themselves out there and try. Sometimes it's less truth and more protection mechanicism. Sometimes it's more truth.
I'm going to be frank, I skimmed this rolecall but as a rule of thumb if I were going to say I have special roles for X amount of people I might also emphasis strongly that this is part of a larger overarching plot on the game that all characters will be affected by and these roles are merely flashpoints from which staff will move out from and back to and out from again. The roles serve the game and all existing characters not this is for super special awesome characters. You know if that's how they're planning to do it.
Coffee.

Nullscan was actually banned from Musoapbox for being a troll. I am disappointed that TMC never decided to ban him as he constantly engaged in personal attacks and made every thread about himself. It was an easy decision. Even I with my anti-censorship bias would probably have banned him because on the first suspension he would have exploded and probably done a death threat or doxing which I will ban for.

It would appear generalized places to discuss MUDs are narrowing a bit but MUDconnector's forums are being closed leaving r/mud and a few others for general discussion and promotions.

On the face of it that is a reasonable statement but...
Last I knew you couldn't choose your stats you had initial roll + reroll. Last I knew you couldn't choose you skill spread except with GP or Karma or whatever you could get a starting bump but it was just a bump not a cap raise.
So even if I knew every line of code in Armageddon minmaxing consists of just knowing this stat > than this stat... Well stats are randomized anyway so you could have a concept that you rolled being a big tough street thug and get below average strength. So you have this burly desc written and a background and a concept and you're like WELP guess I'm going to snort spice like mad to get decent strength.
In addition to that knowing the optimal rate of raising skills and what those caps are is... moot because people already have theories about that and act on them without knowing the underlying code. Entire clans exist to wake up spar hangout sleep, throw in a patrol or mission. You cannot pretend that grinding optimal or otherwise is not an innate part of the RP on Armageddon.
Not that it's bad. Going out for your daily hunting trip with a buddy can be fun. You can talk about anything. Have a little danger maybe. Run into a bandit... but at the end of the day you're killing a thing, skinning a thing, riding a thing, maybe charging a thing, maybe sneaking a thing. It's all grinding activity for skill raises and/or the stuff you need to get by.
So once again obscuring the underlying mechanics is moot. People who want to minmax will try to do so anyway. People who want to figure out the underlying code will eventually be able to do so with or without staff/former staff help. Which is less of an argument for Armageddon to release their code and more of an argument that it makes little sense that obscuring mechanics is a motivation behind the class changes.

I don't believe that it will require a staffer to deduce the underlying details of the new classes/guilds. The truth is players are pretty smart and they can seen patterns. Now sometimes they see something and misunderstanding it because they lack the underlying system knowledge but it doesn't change the fact that once the patterns are seen and shared you'll eventually hit someone who has a friend on staff or is just clever enough to put 2 and 2 together.
Trying to mask system functions is kind of moot. Tabletop games don't need to mask system functions for things to be fun, why do MUDs? Even MMOs don't bother masking information on systems anymore.

Brief aside here but...
TLDR - Posting to places other than GDB, Jcarter board makes sense if you goal is not to convince the already biased.
While I personally have always kept my Armageddon complaints confined to the community (except when they crop up elsewhere by other people) there is no requirement to do so by all posters. If you believe there are complaints or scandals or issues or whatever there is no guideline that you post to the GDB or here exclusively. Arguably both audiences are mostly convinced of their current positions and in one you will encounter staff censorship or player pushback. Player pushback is the more legitimate form of disagreement in my opinion. Here you may encounter an echo chamber of like minds with mild pushback of people not liking bullshit.
If your objective is to bring wider awareness and pressure to the game to reform or at least inform others than it would behoove you to post to popular MUD discussion platforms like TMC and Reddit. You do take a credibility hit when you do this though because people will naturally claim you are smearing the game and maybe you are (royal you not Mehtastic).

I've always been a proponent of bludgeoning being the most effective weapon type because it deals dual damage and the health damage it deals is not significantly worse than other types of weapons while the stun damage is priceless...
Listen Scan Waying people Previous combat with a neck or head shot
All of these can reduce your total stun cap or lower your current stun total making it easier to knock you out.

Players used to do that weekly/biweekly report to their head staffer like head Kuraci, head Indies, head Northlands staff. They normally expected PKs to be in those so when they said stop sending us shit unless it's super important they probably made PK reports a thing so they could get the backstory to a PK.

OT said in another thread the new elemental subguilds and reduced full elemental classes (presumably reduce Sorc classes too) are a failure. Can anyone who has been playing or is playing kind of layout why? Is it lack of interest in gickers now? Is it a general abundance of them making them not special? Is it an ineffectiveness of being a gicker now reducing the impact of having it? Has it somehow killed RP or independents or changed the IC culture in a negative way?

Random account asking for information that was formed in 2017 and also asked for skill list information back then... I have my tinfoil hat prepared!

So the Crimson Wind is an official raiding clan? Do you they have like gicker members or something? I'm having difficulty understanding how someone(s) can be untouchable vs maxed rangers. I mean if they have magickal weapons or armor or something maybe, I've never seen non-gickers using those. More information for the peanut gallery?
