Nilazi

was your experience with travel gate with a nilazi and recent? my experience was that a sorcerer and anyone else would experience the damage in the corridor, but a nilazi could actually stay in the corridor if it closed. you did not heal hitpoints or movement points. the inside of the corridor is actually within nilaz as well, so you get the reduced casting cost associated with being on your elemental plane, as well as increased mana regeneration. this was regardless if you were passing through or let the exits close. if the exits close, just portal or travel gate to open a portal from within the corridor.

this experience is old, they may have changed it. it could also require a spell like shield of nilaz to be active to work.

I always thought that if you're still in the hallway when the vortex closed you DIE. And I'm pretty sure someone I knew did die to that.

I no longer have karma for the nilazi. But one day, I sure would like to mark a room inside the nilazi corridor and see if I could return to it via the gate. See how that works.

I think I might try one again eventually. It was fun, and with the new Subs, can be really -really- powerful. Was wondering though if this would work, the combination of spells Shield of Nilaz, and Identify. Casting Ident on say a warrior attempting to kill you and having shield on yourself already. I can't remember if identify is castable on others though.
