Have a look at the shifting populations in the world today and in the past. All it takes is a few families to settle in one place and generations later you have a whole sub population. Sure the city has its dangers but so does the sand. And all the while humans in the real world have shifted from one dangerous place to another.

Biggest problem at Arm. Nobody is thoughtful enough on staff to actually sit down and think about the shit system of city/desert elf concept. You said I can't compare everything to Darksun. But actually I can and I do. Athasian Elves have over 400 pages in documentation written about them in the Athasian Elves compendium. Arm has what? A single help file?

This doesn't explain how they physiologically changed so dramatically so quickly. Next.

Also. Marathon runners come from all walks of life. We humans can become whatever we want that's the beauty of humanity. Elves are born runners. Period. It's in their blood. Just like all dwarves are short and strong as fuck.

Maybe their ancestors got to the city, had too much to drink, mated with a "glowy-eyed, dark-skinned elf", and now have some Drow blood. Someone get a saliva sample and send it to 23andMe.

This shit doesn't work. C-elves are weak as fk. They need to buff c-elves, or do what they should have done years ago and make it ONE race, having two races is stupid and unnecessary. ...City elves are meant to be descendants of desert elves who couldn't hack it in the sun. They retreated to the cities and many, not knowing how to adapt as well as due to their elven nature, took up criminal activity Source? I strongly disagree. ALL elves are inherently thievish and possess sticky fingers, regardless of whether they are city/desert breeds. You know, a few years ago I tried using that same argument with Nyr in pointing out with a helpfile that desert elves are stronger than city elves. He continued to argue before snidely thanking me for pointing that out and "fixing" the helpfile by deleting the bit that said desert elves were codedly stronger. Thus, I'd have to disagree with you here as well.

You're right about the inherent nature of thievery in all elves, lulz. But I wasn't distinguishing city elves in saying that. I'm just saying if a group of elves decided to take refuge in a city for whatever reason, they'd likely rely on some form of thievery to make ends meet. Not cuz they're former desert elves or now city elves, but because they're elves. As a player who helped contribute to the existing elf docs I believe a great deal of effort and energy was put into writing them and that they're pretty solid docs. Of course it won't be an 800 page book because, well, it's an amateur online game and not some professional bona fide rpg being sold to millions. If you have a look at any indigenous group of people today you have two main types. The ones who have been urbanised (sometimes against their will) and the ones who remain in the wilds living (to various degrees) as their ancestors once did. City elves are meant to represent the former sort of group, desert elves the latter. If you want to roam the sands as an elf, just make a desert elf. They could be coded as a single race sure but ultimately it shouldn't matter if a city elf has the same stamina or even unlimited stamina. They're city slickers, victims of the inner city life. You might as well ask a kid in a modern day ghetto why he doesn't seek out his ancestral roots in Africa or elsewhere and go live off the land. He's too busy worrying about his next meal or if the guy down the street will stab him in his sleep.

That's a decent point. I sure as hell couldn't go into the Scandinavian wilderness and survive as my ancestors did a thousand years ago, even if I wanted to.
On the same note, desert elves can't walk into a city and live (this is enforced by staff as fact). The two are not interchangeable.
This is all a construction for the game to justify city elves as a zero-karma race not having desert run, because then there'd be gangs of city elves running across the desert and killing and looting everything in sight. Better to give desert elves the power, and also the responsibility of using it properly.

If city elves are so adaptable and somehow overcame their ingrained genetic and physiological functions and spiritual ways, etc... Why the fuck don't they ride mounts?

The same reason some people who migrated all the way from the cradle of civilization sometimes don't eat pigs. Cultural bias.

I wasn't distinguishing city elves in saying that. I made the distinction because you explicitly stated that elves who "couldn't hack it in the sun [..] retreated to the cities [...] and many took up criminal activity." The reason I highlighted this particular snippit was to make the point that, in truth, ALL elves are criminals to some extent. I hope that clarifies things. And I argue that all elves rely on some form of thievery to make ends meet, regardless of whether they originate from the desert or from within the walls of a settlement/city. Thus, I once again fail to understand the point you're trying to make. If that's the case, then I thank you for your contributions. I'd also like to remind you that I asked for a citation regarding your first comment on certain elves being unable to "hack it under the sun", thus being driven into the alleys of a city-state. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I'd really appreciate it if everyone would back up their assertions with facts -- forgive me if I don't take your word at face value, no offense intended. I won't argue with you there and am in full agreement.
