Right! Nuff of this silly sex business. Time for somethin' proper and milatree. Taverns The way they get used in game is more like public squares/town centers/parks. The game needs a PC gathering point in every population center though. Such points are too useful for various things to get rid of. I don't think they need to be taverns. I'd like to see public gathering areas that weren't taverns. I'd like to see taverns be more of actual taverns. One of the main things that's been retconned out/built over since I started playing that I truly miss is the firepit outside the Firestorm. That and the firepit between the inner and outer walls of luir's are two of my favorite places, though, that said, you'll likely be hard pressed to find anyone who wouldn't prefer the decreased hunger/thirst rate of being indoors somewhere, codedly.

they dont need to be taverns at all. they could be all sorts of things. but taverns are the meta. like it or not the vast majority of people who play and have played armageddon have done so for a long time. they are set in their ways. it would be weird to start rping (like the way people do in taverns, standing around waiting for roleplay opportunities) in the middle of the nakki bazaar or in a certain busy room...it would be weird... but it would be cool, imo. things like that are possible, and if you are a good enough roleplayer people will start to follow your example. i have seen that several times. taverns are a crutch, but a necessary one because rpi's are very demanding on the player, more so than most if not all gaming mediums, so you need a cozy place to get people lubed up and ready for dat der roleplay insertion into their wonderland va-jay-jays.

Alright. Describe what you would do in the "real" tavern? Only in a tavern and not in a park or a normal gathering place, but specifically a tavern.

the only thing that would make a tavern 'real' are the people in it and the way they interact. and i despise 'brooding' types being included in the list of 'annoying' pc traits in bars - theyre already common enough irl, and to scoff at some fucker playing that type in a post-apocalyptic world on top of that is ridiculous
brooding and grim is a lot more in theme/acceptable to me than a table of fuckmes playing some srs 'kruth-or-dare' in a grungy tavern. lol u gotta be fucking kidding me

Card games seem like the sort of thing mercenaries and rough and tumble people would play all the time in taverns, and I have never once seen someone actually use a kruth deck.

Never seen a card game. Only seem them used as tarot decks. So they seem new age rather than rough mercenary to me. But I realize that isn't how they're supposed to be.

Card games happen aplenty in the taverns, or otherwise. They vary from boring, to pretty interesting. I genuinely hope that only because a few players somehow managed to never participate in a card game, others would not seriously think they do not happen.
They are admittedly a lot rarer for mercenaries though. Mainly due to schedule. Usually a card game tends to last a lot longer then a single night. So with mercs and soldiers, it would end up being broken up every dawn. Unless you really entice them and they toss out the rules. Then when the sargeant comes in to give shit, you trick him into playing as well. Good times.

Some of my best Byn memories involve a chick giving out kruth readings in the mess hall and getting the sarge to let them off latrine duty because she so got him interested in it. Moar kruth cards. You should not have to go to the rinth to get them, they should be a common fucking item.

I always used to keep to keep a Kruth deck or dice on my character. It does make RP more interesting. Any ideas why they aren't easily obtainable anymore; some HRPT with raptors or zombies halting all gambling I missed?

kruth card games are fine, im talking about that specific answer to truth or dare that had some gruff warrior-types blushing and giggling like schoolgirls in the middle of the tavern
