You act like I think Haven is a good game or has good incentivizing systems. The fact of the matter is that people ignore the documentation because their actual experiences in game are different. That is why you used to see people make alliances with rogue gickers and shit and benefit greatly from it even though they should be like pissing their pants terrified of a full branched elkros zipping around the desert. This is why Elves in Tuluk achieved absurb levels of power and influence when Sinjinn was in charge.
If there is no actual risk to associating with gickers or supporting elves over humans or dating a breed than it'll happen regardless of documentation. You can't pretend that in the past (haven't played ARM for years) that gicker fear or elf hate or breed hate wasn't a seriously underrepresented thing.
EDIT - Lets not forget that the docs aren't even followed by the staff themselves where House Borsail gained power via gickers, then hates gickers and their involvement in the city? Or any of the other weird double-standard/double-thinks that make very little sense which occur throughout the game.

If the stigma against gickers is purely social and not justified because they are in fact dangerous even when they're trying to be helpful, then befriending a gicker isn't bad it means you're able to overcome prejudice and take advantage of a relationship. It could be something simple like oh you're near a krathi (of whatever new flavor they come in) you have a higher % chance of getting sun sickness which is coded in game. Oh you're near a viv maybe you have a higher chance of getting disarmed because your hands are damp or you get drunk faster or maybe your thirst comes back quicker .
As for breeds, sure code up some STDs and have them come from breeds. That'd be great (if a bit sex centric). In theory the downside to socializing with a half-breed is that a well played half-breed is kind of unstable and has a bunch of baggage so someday they might fuck you over with their breediness.

Instead of docs being enforced on the game. Have the game enforce the docs. Add some element to gickers that make them actually dangerous to non-gickers besides social stigma and you're set. As long as your friendly neighborhood gicker has no downside like causing disease, blindness, genderswapping, famine, whatever. Then functionally there's not downside to associating with them because they were(are?) the most powerful people in the playerbase.

Yes, we all need parenting on the internet. Thank God for firm handed moderators of any community.

1. You'd have to ask someone who played post-sparring changes. Generally speaking though grinding is grinding. Go find Jozhal and beetles scrabs if you're in the south. If you're in Luirs use the bounty of the north and find some raptors.
2. Early term dodging is bad for you and normally indicates that your specialize defense to that type is to high. If you're seeing it switch to a different thing to grind on. This is why I suggested sparring for grinding after you're able to hunt proficiently.
3. Listen: Go stand or sit at a tavern. Stand if everyone is sitting at the bar. Sit at a table if everyone is at the bar. They should be using talking for you to benefit.
watch: Just type watch at people periodically

Okay after the random thoughts thread what about the Idle complaints thread, the dating thread, the good things that happened today thread? Pretty much the entire off-topic section of the GDB is "pointless" posting even more so than a RAT that focuses on Armageddon topics.

Define "pointless" posts. Why is a RAT dedicated to Armageddon topics bad but a RAT dedicated to things completely unrelated to the game acceptable?

SOI forums (deleted by staff) due to "bad content"
HavenRPG forums (moderated heavily) to keep "quality discussion"
Go check out both of them. They are either completely empty or average very few posts. At the end of the forum activity is better than quality activity. You can only hate cycle so many times in a serious manner. Want proof? Check out this forum, the most of the content is bullshitting and relaxed. Normally activity dips when there's no big issue or recent events to discuss from ARM. Now keep in mind we can ask questions and discuss topics the GDB can't so our content pool is larger than theirs.
TLDR - The RAT didn't hurt anyone. It allowed the community to BS and gives them an excuse to check the GDB throughout the day from work, home, while playing. It keeps them engaged.

Some aide transition is allowed. For example when I played Wilem of Oash I was Lord Ark's aide. Well the player of Ark ended up falling off the face of the planet and the next Oash showed up. I was informed I was no his aide but that he could still call upon me to a certain extent because Ark hadn't been stored. I was permitted to leave the House if I wanted.
That's an example of the OOC reality of sponsored role turnover allowing aides to get out of their life oath positions so that new sponsored roles aren't forced to take on other peoples hiring choices. I mean I was executed by a Blue Robe shortly thereafter but they did let me get out scott free. Wilem's primary love interest was the same way she was an Oashi aide whose noble stored or died and she was released from the House and joined the Arm of the Dragon because she had no direct boss and they hadn't filled the role for months.

Senior Crafter Ita of Salarri (and also an adopted circle bard) was able to get a slave after years of play. I forget if it was a guard or if it was like a fluff thing, but she was essentially the tippy toppest of what a non-family member of Salarr could be within the crafting circles. She was later demoted for "inactivity" or something. She did vanish for lengthy periods of time but such is RL, she also made the war spear for Salarr I believe.

Evading my ban with the ease of a 25 second google search for a proxy... I went ahead and did a little test. I organized the general discussion by thread views. You can always tell the interest level of a thread from the views (more so than replies). It's interesting to note the highest threads are OOC in nature and involve community sharing and involvement. As I noted in the shoutbox, text-based games are maintained via their community participating in group activities together. Notice the 2 highest threads are also locked?

It's okay, you're banned anyway. Remember? And bans are impossible to circumvent, making them excellent choices of disciplinary tools.

I'm not discussing the lag. I'm discussing the ability to use charge / sap / backstab which work best (or only work) to OPEN combat. You cannot backstab someone if you are already engaged in combat. So you have 2 people, 1 is fighting, the 2nd backstabs, waits out the lag, disengages, backstabs again.
