Very ruined? Not at all ruined? Apart from trashing the three most interesting mage guilds, which can only be attributed to some kind of mental defect, I'd be able to imagine that the new character possibilities could outweigh the balance implications to leave a fun and working system in place.
Anyone who's been in game have a sense how it's affected play?

Basically. You have your warriors who can three shot 'decent' rangers, the warrior having only played like fucking a week or something, but now. Oh wait. He has fucking strength and god speed. So his three shots turn to one, easily two, shots and he becomes an unkillable god.
Add fury+armor and you have someone thats taking on gith patrols at less than ten days played and thats with shitty stats.
I haven't seen a viv corruption/assassin yet but the day I do is the day I hide and die. Guile krathis/anything seems broken, atleast combat related, because you can just load up strength rings and do whatever the fuck you want.
Sure, you aren't going to be walking around as a krathis wearing flame armor, flame mount, fourteen fire swords, and your army of mon elementals...but you were only using one of those to kill people to begin with. But now you can use the ONE kill move you had before, but have master archery/bludgeoning/whatever the fuck with it.
Rip nilazi tho

Warriors don't have scan though, you buffoon.
What we have is a problem of great karma off culture clashes with magickers as people first. This will settle, but clan documentation will need to be adjusted.

Here is what I would have predicted would happen:
1. Since characters with elementalist spells are all viable now without using them, almost none of them would take the gem.
2. Since casting would reveal oneself as an elementalist, great effort will be made to hide the ability. Being caught casting would, at a minimum, mean social death (being consigned to a gem and an elementalist quarter almost without PCs). Templars and the very occasional rogue will be the only ones spotted using magick.
3. People might stop selecting elementalist subguilds after realizing they almost never use spells.
4. Mysterious PC deaths would be on the rise.
How does this accord with the realilty?

if things went the right direction, only 1, 2, and maybe 4 would happen. more ppl would play rogues and just rp manifesting later on after theyve gotten their mundane skills high enough to survive the wastes on their own solo or when theyre ready to serve the state in that way pc witches could be rarer in show and but more common oocly because its now oocly far easier to hide as a rogue. witchhunting becomes viable and valued job whether as statesponsored gemmed bounty hunter (theyre less squishy now) or a rogue hunting rogues so i see what they mayve been trying to do and its a cool idea in general. but like gloryhound said how is this playing out ig

Warriors don't have scan though, you buffoon. What we have is a problem of great karma off culture clashes with magickers as people first. This will settle, but clan documentation will need to be adjusted. Spoken as if scan was ever much of a defense against anyone with half a clue. The game's itemization and the high skill cap for sneak/hiding, means that it's ridiculously easy for any stealth class to become invisible to even ranger scan. There are a ton of +sneak items, and very very few +scan, and they're not well known (bone sunslits). The only detection that stealth really has to watch out for, is of the magickal variety. It's been that way for quite a while. As it is, from what I've heard about the current state of the game, given the ridiculous profusion of magick, I would never want to return to it. It's taken all of the mystery out of the mundane vs magick divide. Incoming Rant: It's just one more example of Armageddon's incredible IC doublethink and cultural contradictions. We're supposed to hate and fear magick, but everyone is one, and it is incredibly behooves you to be nice to them. As you might as well kiss your character goodbye to make an enemy of them, or their knob-polishing clique. It's all that SJW gender crap, where they say one thing on the GDB, but virtually every NPC in game just reinforces our biological reality. Most prostitutes NPC/PC in game are female. Most attractive NPCs/PCs are female. Most big burly soldier/fighters are men. And yet they keep insisting there is complete equality between the genders. (Which completely ignores that such biological differences as there are, exist because one gender is fashioned by evolution to excel at bearing young, and the other isn't). And many other examples, if you just keep going down the list. Nobles, etc. The only way I could ever stay immersed in Armageddon was ignoring as much of it as possible. And in truth, it often feels like two different games exist. What it actually is, and what the GDB claims it is. But it's definitely shit now.

With the gender thing I think the reason it's stated as firmly as it is on the GDB is just so no one feels like they're going to be seen as "weird" for making the character they want to make the gender they want to make. They're declaring something that's over-the-top in order to achieve the mean, Aristotle style. I think all that really matters is that your female character isn't expected to be a pretty princess or told that she will always be an inferior fighter and your male character isn't mocked and called less of a man for being a floofy aide.
The new magick subguilds are fun. They lend a lot of variety to magickal RP, and they let your magicker have more of a full, relatable life beyond casting, which I think was what was meant by wanting to make them feel "more like people." Maybe everyone and their dog is a magicker now as some worried would happen, but I haven't seen it, and if I haven't seen it I don't care. I don't want magick to feel like it's absolutely everywhere, and it doesn't.
It's still a goddamn tragedy that we lost full guilds.
Also I would say that one reason the "hate and fear" docs are enforced is BECAUSE it behooves you to befriend a magicker. If we weren't supposed to hate and fear them then everyone might as well be a magicker because their magickal friends would be buffing them all the time. If you want to play that way, there are certain tribes that allow you to accept the buffs of your tribesmates freely. But for the rest of the world there are intense social ramifications to doing so, and that's perfectly fine with me. It tempers that whole "gimme buffs" temptation. Some people will still go after it, and that's fine too, but it's not going to be the norm.

Instead of docs being enforced on the game. Have the game enforce the docs. Add some element to gickers that make them actually dangerous to non-gickers besides social stigma and you're set. As long as your friendly neighborhood gicker has no downside like causing disease, blindness, genderswapping, famine, whatever. Then functionally there's not downside to associating with them because they were(are?) the most powerful people in the playerbase.
