Now this thread isn't to discuss whether or not certain words should be banned. The avenue for that discussion has already been locked and I do not want this thread to be locked. This is to discuss whether or not staff overuse their "We're in charge, this is what we're doing" card.


Please take your feigned concern and shove it elsewhere. You're lucky you can even play after all the time you spent vandalizing Armageddon's wikipedia page a few months back.

Anyway, in case it wasn't completely obvious, I'm completely exhausted by this "community" and its loudest and most annoying and hypocritical voices. I have dealt with the playerbase in reasonable terms long enough, and get shit all over myself for it. I have tried my best to help the best of players, which I feel is a group that is rapidly shrinking in size. I've seen how you all play, and how a lot of you treat the game and its community. I've seen player cliques, I've seen players cajoling others into supporting them OOC, I've seen outright blackmail of other players. A lot of you simply disgust me. I am taking a long, long break. I may come back for the guild revamp beta test I've been working on for you or I may not.

GDB users are some of the most miserable and loathsome people -- if they can even be called people. when i first started these boards, i drove out to the boards.net headquarters and put down a circle of salt to protect these boards from those unholy creatures.

like the lovecraftian horrors they are, they drove the most ginka-thumping staff member into madness with their jezebel-level snark. just reading two sentences of a lizzie comment gave me a nosebleed and forced me to lay down so that i may recover my strength.

Hate to say I'm surprised, in retrospect, I should have seen this a long way off. With such thought patterns and attitudes inevitably arise certain behaviors. It was only a matter of time before the maliciousness crept its way out of the request tool, into the open, and snowballed.

As a person I have to carefully prioritize the results I wish to achieve, and to do that, I have to deeply reflect on why I wish to achieve them, and while doing so, ask myself hard questions like, is this really worth it? Or does it conflict with my other, more important priorities? And end up tossing a lot into the scrap heap. Once I have my priorities set up, I have to look at my own attitudes and beliefs and decide which ones need adjusting, or elimination altogether. It's a stressful process, but essential in that I'm psychotic and have very poor impulse control. I can't afford to take things for granted or be obnoxiously stubborn with people who politely disagree with me.

But there's an old saying, never be haughty to the humble, and never be humble to the haughty. There crop up situations where you simply cannot allow yourself to be used as a doormat, because this will lead to worse treatment. You learn to recognize this before it starts after enough people fuck you over. This was the sort of feeling I got from Nyr as well as Nergal in their responses on the GDB and to requests. Still, I recognize my own ability to make mistakes and adjust for that, and try to give some people the benefit of the doubt, but half the time I wasn't wrong to begin with. In hindsight, this sort of ragequit was inevitable.
