It would be nice if more players got a chance to play the roll they wanted too.

I love rolls, especially with butter. ;D
In truth, I agree.

I don't like how the game is devolving into a game that is played out of character. The player base is growing, but not in a good way. You get people talking in code word for game mechanics and it breaks my immersion, this isn't the arm I have enjoyed in the past at all. With the up rise of player base comes a slide in the quality of role play. Seeings stupid shit like racing sleds that the imms have put into the game makes me cringe too.

Sometimes I feel like when I'm talking to someone in game, that seems AWFULLY newbish... they respond quickly in most instances, and then when I talk about something a newbie might not know about... they take an extra 2 minutes to respond.
For some reason, in my head, I imagine that they are talking to their AIM buddy who is saying "NO MAN DON'T JOIN THAT HOUSE THEY SUCK". But I also see a lot of like "So what kind of training do we get? Can I learn how to rescue people?" But sometimes, its tough to come up with wink-wink nudge-nudge ways of saying "Hey I'm a warrior and I want to practice rescue do u guyz got rough circlz?"
Also, send me a racing sled. I havn't seen one yet, I've only seen a chariot like once. Can I have one?

Lol, I think the racing sled would have been fine if it had appropriate visuals and echos or whatever. Like if it said it was being pulled by a team of gortoks or inix, but its doesn't. It has some weird echo like its rolling by or something of that nature.

So a buddy of mine sent me an email about 4-5 weeks ago about how he submitted a shit load of content to the game. Put in several hours of writing and such. He sent it in and the response he got was. "No."
This is the kind of shit that stirs my decade-old rage rants. Somebody spends hours working on content for a game like a MUD which was top of the line stuff (I read the description he wrote), and it just gets a single response like that. No explanation?
Anybody else have experiences to share on this? I've submitted stuff and actually had Sanvean put it in back in the day. I'm positive at least 6 of the weapons/armor I wrote up for crafting are still in the game.

Thing that pisses me off:
Missing the good parts about ARM and wanting to play after drifting about on other MUDS for a while, but being all worried that you will be noticed by a staffer and have to deal with a whole world of inexplicable stuff that will be inflicted on you, leading to fail doom in short order.
I'm not a banned player, I'm not an old or vetted player either. I just happened to end up involved in something extremely mundane ICly that marked me a target to some staff members off who were butt-hurt from something I never knew of, ICly or OOCly. I can't explain further because it's total giveaway, I think. Amusingly I would not have known why suddenly the game world animations and report responses grew venomous if I had not learned OOCly about it. (Hint it had not a damn thing to do with any code, hacks, exploits, rule violations, lore, PKing, behavior, consent, RP shenanegans, etc. I almost wonder if you'd believe me if I said it, honestly. I didn't believe it at first but it broke the game for me a little bit that I got singled out in such a middle-school recess kind of way.)
Now I want to play because the game was amazing, but I fear the hammer of no logical reasoning. Sad day.
I feel better having vented at least.

Anybody else have experiences to share on this? I've submitted stuff and actually had Sanvean put it in back in the day. I'm positive at least 6 of the weapons/armor I wrote up for crafting are still in the game. Being on the other side of this with other RPI's, several things are possible. - Poor quality. Unfortunately, a lot of people think they are good at describing things. You say it's 'top' quality, but it probably isn't, and it doesn't matter. Maybe they missed a rule staff tries to play by (no using 'You', no describing things that are up to interpretation, using Arm-centric wording, etc. Poor grammar, poor spelling. As a staffer, I'm never wasting my time reading what you describe as a 'shit ton' of content if any of these flags are thrown up, especially unsolicited. - Unusable Are there already things in the works similar? Maybe they have plans for it that sadly aren't coming in anytime soon, but doesn't change the fact there's already something considered you don't know about. - Unwanted This is pretty simple but unless they ask for it, and in my limited experience in Arm they do, maybe they just plain don't want it. In fact, after spending less than 5 minutes of effort, I discovered two things. There is no option to submit objects, descriptions, or anything related to that (except typo/bug corrections) and they actually tell you when you choose the only logical option (Submissions!) that you need to do it on the forums. In short, These forums explain how they want it done. They don't demand it, but they offer ways for players to help. The fact your friend chose to waste his time doing something they never asked for is really his problem, not theirs.

And the fact that staff decided to respond in a terse manner, further segregating themselves from the players they too once were, is their problem and a problem of publicity throughout the game.
Something more than "No" can't be so hard. Maybe "Sorry, none of this fits with what we're working on right now." would at least be easier to swallow, from people that are, for all intents and purposes, your peers.

Hey you can be pissed off about it, certainly - It doesn't do you a bit of good, but that's what this board is for.
If he was told, no, sorry.. it wouldn't be a big deal?
In my opinion, this is a pretty tiny gripe in comparison the staffs perspective, which I outlined pretty minimally, but still made way, way better points than.. but they weren't POLITE about me doing everything wrong and wasting their time. This is exactly what he did, when it boils down to it. You may not see it that way, but when you have probably a couple hundred players, a volunteer staffers time is immensely more valuable than any one player - again, especially when you're soliciting their attention the completely wrong way.
I'm sure it's frustrating to be told your work isn't going to be used, but not nearly as much as it's frustrating to constantly deal with tons of people not following the system put in place. He got a response, at least.
