Muggers

Armageddon doesn't have enough muggers.
Crim code goes down at night when out of sight of the NPC soldiers and templar. Yet people walk about like it's no biggie? We need more muggers in the game. Stun-smashers galore. Could be even fun for solo RP to find your mark, stalk them, knock them out, steal their shit, and run. Would strike terror into the the hearts of every little F-me.
What are some builds that people can roll to feel inspired to mug?
Also I have personally never played a mugger so I have no idea if rolling for the sap skill is even worth it.
I would personally just do a dwarf warrior and hit shit with my 2 handed whatever. Though I've seen stone Bolas knock out quite well when thrown too.
What are the best weapons for stun killing? Use of a sap with a sap really useful? Does it work with two handed weapons? Slingshots worth it perhaps?

as much as the pbase declares they like muggers, it's not true. Armers like the idea of being the mugger, Armers like the idea of the threat of muggers, and Armers like the idea of being the person who chases down and kills the mugger. but if you try to mug an Arm player, you're going to get a death sentence put on your head and if you mug NPCs people will cry twinking.

It's true. If you're a thief in any capacity you better have enough money to bribe the Templerate not to off you because there will be a PC led crusade for your heart and head on a pike the moment you steal over 300 sid from anyone. Doesn't matter if they didn't see you do it anyway, have the same cloak as the thief? Have you ever been caught sneaking, anywhere, ever? Are you the same height as the thief? Did someone managed to look at you and despite having a tdesc set and your entire body covered including your eyes via sunslists they quoted your mdesc to the authorities?

One of my first characters was a scrawny human rinthi. I trapped myself in a dead-end alley and was approached by two giant eastside elves who mugged my char, including a dead body that my char had found and was dragging around. It pulled me further into the immersion of the game.
Mugging PCs in the core of Allanak? Not feasible. The victim would quote your entire description. That's why hoods and masks should hide your entire main description like they did in Atonement.

TBH though, I don't think this attitude is unique to Arm.

Given what other people have said, the best mugger build would probably be something effective yet disposable. I'd just get something that can twink the subdue skill, then physically grab people that walk by alleys and drag them off demanding their coin.
Since you'd only be twinking one skill, you could churn out a few effective muggers a month as you continuously got killed over and over again.

Slingshots worth it perhaps? so to answer ur questions well some ppl do walk around like its no biggie but most ppl spamwalk or go in groups, unless theyve gotten dumber in the last few years inspiring builds are any combat class that u can skill up, usually u want to stick with weapons thatll make them fall quicker until ur combat is good enough to make up for that, and thats ur just openly assaulting them dwarf warriors are no prob. most of the questions u asked can be deduced from the helpfiles, ie bludgeoning weapons knock u out quicker. far as the bludgeon weapon specifics usually the heavier the stronger like most weapons im pretty sure theres a bonus to sapping if u use weapons designed to do that. yes u can do it with twohanded weapons and that gives a bonus with the weapon skill and twohanded just as with any other damage mod. so yes backstab and sap are ur friends if u want to do it quicker. i wouldnt rely on throwing weapons to get the job done, its more to weaken them or to expect success in really specific circumstances (the guy is bleeding out and is already sitting, etc) where most of the time u could handle them anyway, but i get the cool factor for wanting to try it that way and yes i agree with the bigger threat thing just be aware that in game pcs and imms usually step in at some pt to show theres a criminal or law element respectively that is managing things and if u do it enough or even just to the wrong target u might get a visit from them and either pulled in or killed depending plus make sure to rp it all tho and use it realisticly and reasonably or ull have staff either storing/killing ur char or nerfing all the shit that makes it possible to do and fun in the 1st place

Seems like a great idea for NPCs or staff run avatars (that aren't uber powerful and infallible.)

I'd stay away from actual combat. You'll be better off just looking and pretending like you're competent. It's not like muggers typically go after well armed folks anyways, and twinking up combat takes frickin' forever. Subdue on the flipside can be increased pretty quickly, and it's pretty intimidating to have used on you. It's a one shot "You're not going anywhere" you can use on wandering merchants and aides that should give you a significant psychological advantage.
And as soon as you do it, you can throw them onto the ground where they won't be able to stand for a few ticks. Pull a weapon and threaten them, boom, you have a low-risk mugging. You'll still get killed eventually, but since it's just the subdue skill that needs raising you're not loosing much.

Something that can be churned out easily would be ideal. But subdue they see you, and you're fucked. Two people with the sap skill, or the throw skill. Knock PCsout before they see you. If they see you... then you'll have to kill them of course.

The solution to spamwalking is easy, and it's called guard.
Guard one direction, watch the other. If someone lonely and weak approaches, guard. Then knock them out with a mace/subdue them, and pray they don't get a lucky roll on their merchant's flee roll.
That said, Allanak isn't very large, and one day you'll be out of 'untouched,' viable mugging spots, at which point a PC soldier will kill you. So, good luck.

I gave a mugger PC a fair shake once....
For a human warrior, twinking skills up (especially subdue) on NPCs in Allanak at night takes for-goddamned-ever and is risky as shit.
Most of my relevant skills were at around jman when a PC caught me laying a beatdown on that shabby three-fingered mercenary NPC.
All it takes is a single <look hooded> to absolutely ruin a mugger's career. A week later my char was SURPRISE ARRESTED on Hathor's, and of course it was one of those "haha you cant bribe me or grovel enough i will be completely unreasonable given the setting your going to die rinthi scum" arrests.
Never even got around to trying to mug a PC.
Kinda knocked the wind out of my sails. :/

Mugging and raiding seems fun in theory, until the character you built up to be a mugging threat gets nuked by some gicker. That's ten days play time you're never getting back.
And everything Sinister said.
