Also sleight of hand allows pickpockets to stealth-open packs on other players.
NOTHING IS SAFE ANYMORE

That makes sense, considering that real life pickpockets do that shit and more

Also sleight of hand allows pickpockets to stealth-open packs on other players. NOTHING IS SAFE ANYMORE Well, we're doomed. No one's food or water will ever be safe again. Mr. Master Pickpocket/Slipknife will just switch in poisoned meats or whatever at will. Even valuables left with Nenyuk might as well be thrown off the Shield Wall, given pickpockets will nab the tickets from any purse. You only own what you wear now. I expect this will have a chilling effect on player interaction. Why visit the Gaj if it only makes you a target? Especially gemmers, one magick-hating pickpocket could wipe them all out now if they don't change their habits.

From the GDB: This feature adds the commands "unlatch" and "latch". It also makes unlatch/latch (open/close), palm/slip (get/put) and steal/plant all behave the same way through command emote parsing.
Key aspects of this feature:
'latch' will perform a Sleight of Hand skillcheck and perform a quiet 'close' if successful. Targets include objects on self, in room, doors, and containers on others. 'unlatch' will perform a Sleight of Hand skillcheck and perform a quiet 'open' if successful. Targets include objects on self, in room, doors, and containers on others. latch & unlatch use command emote parsing, just like close & open. 'plant' now uses command emote parsing. 'plant' updated to include targeting victim's containers, mirroring how steal does. (Darn near cut & paste implementation). 'steal'' now uses command emote parsing.
Helpfiles will be updated and published.

If one puts their light weight valuables in a large bag with something heavy and put that bag in their backpack, pickpockets will have a hard time with that.

That just sounds like a way to get around the code since you know the code doesn't allow for someone to peek within a bag within a bag nor steal from it either.
Hey, they just made pickpockets more viable by adding this cool latch/unlatch ability!!
Bah, I'll just double bag everything. That'll undo the usefulness of that piece of coding.

Nothing stopping you from posting up near one of Allanak's gates and slipping spice into unsuspecting people's packs overnight, though.

Pretty legit code add.
Yes, it makes Pickpockets more able to snatch your belongings. Pickpockets were a nerfed class to begin with, if anything this brings them closer to being as useful/fun as playing a burg or assassin.
No, this does not constitute the whole "the end is neigh" attitude. Don't believe me? Answer this question: "When was the last time (to within 1 week of precision) that a pickpocket stole any of your belongings?"
The fact that you (or at least 95% of you) cannot answer this means that pick pockets weren't that large of a problem to begin with. They're still hard to train, and they'll still be ousted to the entire playerbase the minute they fuck up stealing from A SINGLE PC. And they still have to branch steal to get fucking slight of hand in the first place, a feat few ever accomplish, really.

All it will take is one determined elf and everyone might as well throw their portables in a pile and piss on them.
Am I paranoid? Maybe, but that doesn't mean they're not all out to get me!

What's really fucking retarded is they branch hide from sneak, whereas other sneaky types start with it. I genuinely bwelieve the only reason for that is to give them something to branch from their tiny skill list. And i say that as someone who actually loved playing PPs before i quit Arm both times.

I can definitely answer this, but it would be akin to breaking the first rule of fight club.
