They dont fly.
As for the reasons. They are sentient, so scholarly persuits. Slavery. Botany. Crossbreeding. Magickal persuit for source of life. Figuring that defiling from plants (even sentient ones) is more rewarding then from ... some other plants. Lots of stuff you can figure out if you want to kill yourself a cactus.

Just grabbed this from an old log.
Large leathery wings propel this awkward small humanoid through the air. It seems to be mostly skin and bone, with not a trace of excess flesh. Its long legs and arms are easily twice the length of its small body, terminating in claw-fingered hands, while a web of skin stretches between arm and body. Its narrow skull is set with two large dark eyes over a sharp-toothed mouth. A dusty-winged kylori is in excellent condition.
No idea what the sdesc is Probably low threat. Found in the grasslands
If I recall, they're pretty dodgy, so they're OK humanoid+ training.

Kylori. There's gaunt and dusty-winged, the latter is more aggro and has higher offense I think.

Name: Cactus? Sdesc: Varies, don't remember Locations: East of the salt flats, in an area with scorpions you climb up to find another area above where the sentient cacti live and are aggro. Danger Level: Medium to high? Special: Don't remember any Materials:Don't remember any Those would be the Thornwalkers of Thornwalker Canyon. Fairly dangerous, especially since you have a good chance of fleeing off a cliff. It's a 2 or 3 room fall. They're probably one of the best examples of the imms making the world too damned big. Probably of note, like ginka vines, they have the ability to detect invisible people and attack them.

I'm just gonna go through the list... The spiders give fangs and meat. Scrab kick and bash. Ritikki have auto-flee I don't think skeet have a shell? They drop grey strip of chitin or something like that. Silt-lurkers aren't that tough. I've had a minimum age warrior kill one in it's first combat. Might be about as hard to kill a gortok. Hawks fly so they can't be hit by special attacks like kick or charge. Bahamet kick bash and disarm Gizhat and Carru don't 'bash' they have a script that knocks you into another room and puts you to sitting. You can reverse them though. Carru are a lot better at it then Gizhat. At least I think this is the case.
A couple to add.
You look up at a silt horror. The giant silt beast before you is equipped with a thick grey shell, many wildly mashing tentacles, and a pair of hooked appendages that protrude from a cavity located in the front of its armored carapace. Occasionally, a single antennae emerges from between these two "arms" and tentatively waves about before darting back into the hidden recesses of the beast's shell. A silt horror is in excellent condition.
It is carrying: nothing obvious
Usually they are with their little tentacles and they bash. The little tentacles are separate critters, and can give a single person a phat multi-attacker penalty. Probably the 4th or 5th toughest critter in the game.
Standing about four and one half cords at the shoulder, its muscular body is covered with a short, curly muddy-brown wool that is matted down and thick with sand and grass. Its four strong legs end in large, padded paws that are equipped with claws, and its bearded head is set on a long neck that is encircled by a shaggy mane. A thick-furred, muddy-brown gwoshi is in excellent condition.
Gwoshi never did anything special, but they're generally tough. I think they're not aggressive.
Sprouting out in all directions from the thin central body, this long legged insect's body is held nearly eight cords above the ground by its talon-tipped legs. It carries a full dozen brittle-looking appendages, each with a number of razor-sharp spines thin enough to resemble fur down their length. Its thin body is striped with alternate bands of brown and dirty red, and each end bears two waving antennae. One end is slightly thicker, bearing a set of mandibles which look suited for ripping flesh. A many-legged silt strider is in excellent condition.
Striders don't hit that hard, but they're like the hardest thing in the game to hit. They will eventually kill you if you can't run.
The short tan-colored fur of this man-sized feline, known as a rantarri, is spotted with brown dots that vary in size and general shape. Four powerful legs unfurl beneath the animal's torso, ending in lethal claws. The facial features of this creature are distinctly feline, with a pair of squat, pointed horns above the long ears. A powerful jaw is lined with many sharp teeth, and long, thin whiskers line its mouth. A sinewy, brown-spotted rantarri is in excellent condition.
Rantarri are pretty deadly. A good step up in danger level from a gwoshi.
The mounts you can buy are generally pretty buff too. I think Inix are harder to kill then bahamet, honestly.
I've lost my logs with all the kryl and their abilities, sadly. I also can't seem to find any with a tembo.
The cavern-mouth yompars have very high damage. Something close to the beetles around redstorm. They also have bloodburn poison, and will pick up weapons. With a rock I've seen one do over 100 stun and one shot a character.
There is also a gurth version that's super gurth strong, but it's weaker then the yompar.
Raptors come in a couple versions. One isn't that tough. One is quite tough. One bashes. One sneaks and hides. I don't remember the exact colors.

Striders - Nice. I didn't know they were that fast. Can you find them anywhere semi-predictable? (Without having to use a skimmer.)
Inix - Not tougher than bahamets, IMO. They have a lot of HP and can hit pretty hard, but are far less armored. And they're pretty slow. I had a dwarf whose focus was to kill kryl. He would often go into the grey forest, get hit with the aggro poison the mammoth kryls have, go mul-crazy and kill his inix. He called it an ocandra.
Cavern-mouth yompars - Heard that! These things are beast. That same dwarf I described, who could solo through a pack of 3-5 kryl with ease, would hesitate to fight these things. I've never had one hit me for less than horrendous damage (like 50+ hp). They're description describes them as having bodies the size of a half-giant.

Spiders
the enormous, bloated, shiny-black, blood-smeared spider - ("Boomers")
Hideously enormous, this huge spider is twice as tall as many humans and much larger. Eight long and slender but powerfully muscular legs unfurl from its bloated thorax, and terminate in clawed, hairy pads which allow it to scale sheer surfaces. A thick and shiny black carapace covers it, which has been smeared in a swirling pattern of blood, now dried and dark-red. Giant mandibles drip with viscous liquid, and the eight gleaming eyes on its head swirl with dark intelligence. *Have some sort of move that deafens the room, hence the nickname "Boomers".
an armored red spider
Fat, spiked plates of pinkish chitin bury the small head of this great spider, fanning out and darkening to crimson around its massive body. An intimidating sight by any account, the spider lurches about carefully, but with agility upon its eight spindly legs. Two purple spikes, or teeth, jut nearly two feet out from its maw. A constant burbling emits from deep within its tubelike gullet.
a desert tarantula
Over seven cords across from leg-tip to leg-tip this massive spider is covered in coarse sandy-brown hair allowing it to nearly perfectly blend into the desert wastes as it relentlessly stalks its prey. Eight long hairy legs extend out from its hairy chitinous carapace and carry its bulk along the dunes with a disturbing speed and grace. Its eye clusters gleam dully in the light above a pair of wickedly sharp haired fangs.
a brick-red desert tarantula
Over seven cords across from leg-tip to leg-tip this massive spider is covered in spiky, brick-red hair which clashes slightly with the dusky desert sands. Eight long legs reach from its thick-armored carapace, carrying its bulk with speed and agility across the dunes. Ten milky, dull grey eyes stare blankly from above a pair of tufted orange fangs.

Kryl
Sorry, didn't keep descs, justs notes.
*aggro code = some kryl, when they hit you, will trigger "aggro code" (as I call it). I think it's the same as this mul rage I've heard about. Basically, you auto-attack anything in the room, including your own mount, your buddies, etc. If you get near the gates of Tuluk with this code on, they will shout that a monster is approaching and slam he gates in your face... ** If you get this condition on you, and decide to stand back a screen and shout "Hey, I'm so angry I'll kill you if you come near me! So stay back guyz okay? I love you and don't want to hurt you!" you're a stupid ass-tool. Go die.
a fell, debris-covered kryl - Hides and hunts? - Sprays putrid black oil -- Aggro code -- Terradin - Shown from distance as: A heap of rotting refuse squats here. - No acid?
the mammoth grey-shelled club-tailed kryl - Twice the size of normal kryl - clubbed tail with tiny spines dripping with red ichor barely noticeable around the knob. -- Skellebane -- Aggro code - No acid
a lanky, scythe-handed kryl - Hides and ambushes. - Tracks prey - Sprays acid -- Blinds you for about 30 minutes IRL. -- Fire breather. -- Grishen --*High fever, slow stamina drain. --*Firebreather and poison run concurrent. Both wear off at the same time.
A barbed tailed kryl - Sprays burning acid. (echo below) -"*hiss* Stinking yellow fluid sprays from an angular, barb-tailed kryl's thorax, covering you!
Fiery winged, gold-bristled kryl - Normal pinch attacks deal bloodburn poison. - sprays showers of bristles that hit everyone in room, and make your blood burn. -- Grishen
A bulky, bulbous-thoraxed kryl -Disproportionately built -whipped tail -No noticeable mention of poison delivery type system. (not sure about this though) -Impregnater?
A jet black, long-tailed kryl - Acid to burn and disolve gear - Special stinger attack delivers perraine

Silt Beasties
A dun-plated hammerhead dujat
This massive creature must reach at least eight cords long, and half of that in circumfrence. The worm's body is covered with chitin plates to add protection to its already tough greyish-dun armored skin. The entire front of the beast is a four-lipped expanding maw with several circular rows of spiraling jagged teeth. Atop the maw is a singular slitted eye which is shielded by a thick, yet clear membrane. The bottom of the worm has several stout and powerful legs, allowing it to lunge forward with great speed. The lips of the creature are heavily plated in thick chitin, allowing it to deliver powerful strikes when it lunges.
A massive, crystal-backed silt tortoise.
Resembling a vast, floating island when half-submerged in the silt, this titanic shelled creature stands about twelve cords in height at the top of the shell. The shell itself is a dusty, mottled brown splashed with bits of green and gold. A tiny, beaked head peers out from beneath the shell itself, focusing on the world with beady cobalt eyes. From the back of the creature rise several small deposits of glow crystal, some of which could be mature enough to be harvested. A massive, crystal-backed silt tortoise is in excellent condition.

Oh I forgot about the dujat sharks. They're extremely dangerous, not because of their combat, but because they have the bash script. You're only going to see them in the silt sea, and getting knocked off the skimmer is death.
The striders are deep sea only, I think, like the dujat.
I'll take back what I said about inix actually. Since bahamet can crit most characters for over half their hp.
NPCs can sometimes get a double attack at the start of a fight. These attacks can crit. Crits auto-hit. This also means that very rarely NPCs can double crit you.
It is extremely rare to be double critted at the start of a fight, but I've seen it happen. I've actually been quad critted by a pair of gortok, and they did just under 70 damage. One of them got another crit on their next attack round too. My 20~ day warrior got out with like 16 hp after that.
Pro Tip: If anything can crit you for half your HP, then it will never be safe to fight it.
Players can also get a double attack, but it seems like NPCs do it a lot more often.
A bulky, bulbous-thoraxed kryl shoots out the fear gas I think. It hits other kryl too. It gives you the auto-flee flag for a bit. It's really silly when you are on a mount though. Since you and the mount will be fleeing from each other.

Those scythe handed kryl also have a kind if backstab script they can use mid-combat. Let's call it frontstab. I can't rember if it's part of the blindind script or separate but can do 30-40 hps, if you're really unlucky this can happen a few times in a row.

Yeah, the Scythe-handed ones are very high damage. I'd say, next to the kryl with perraine, scythe are the next scariest.
As a note, I have no fucking idea what all that about firebreather is... I think some of them do something similar to saltworms which parch you? And maybe that's what I was referring to? I wish I'd made clearer notes on the subject...

Firebreather is the poison that saltworms do. Dehydrates and drinking water further dehydrates. Scythehanded kryl do it too.
Speaking of salt-worms They come in different colors. One of those colors doesn't breath out the poison gas, but I don't remember which.

Interesting. I haven't fucked around with salt worms. It seems like 90% of them are killed by half-giant rangers. "Littles" don't seem to fuck with them much, unless they absolutely must for some reason.

Let's talk rats. I seem to remember some in under-Tuluk (RIP) that released self-fleeing gas, can't remember their name though. Any more nasty little things like that about? Also curious about canyon of waste, I remember being a desert elf their once and seeing some scaly black serpent thing (only sort of cat size), it may have been clan specific though. And mantis, how much variety is there? Are there kick ass ones, or do they just horde you?

You're thinking of tusk rats. They could be skinned and the tusks could be used as picks for looooow level locks.
Yes, there are badass mantis warriors. They vary in skill based off sdesc IIRC, similar to halflings in the Grey.
Be mindful the closer you get to the clutch cave in Xytrix Za valley, they will eat your ass up.

How tough are Silt flyers? How tough are raptors?
I can kill scrabs, and beetle without much trouble. Should I mess with raptors and silt flyers?
