There is a Gnu that you might be able to mount and a mossy looking war beetle by that tree fort place.

You got lucky, Shnozz. Actually, a script should've kicked in that killed you. Very nice script too. But I guess sometimes they dont trigger. Shame.

For some reason. This thread reminded me of the gladiator games way back. An NPC templar leads a Mantis out, it's clear that the templar really cares for that Mantis. Probably captured it himself, trained it himself, equipped it himself. He really wants that Mantis to perform well in the arena, give the people a real show.
A gladiator temporary PC HG attacks it before the templar finished emoting preparing it and kills it in like 2 rounds. Result? ... they brought the Gajak out who targeted that exact HG. Unfortunately, didnt manage to kill him before going down himself when the rest of the gladiators came along.

That is not a Gaj in the cave northwest of the Grey Forest. That's an Ankheg, a light-green one. It's south of the saltwater lake where all those mutants are, past some bushes and plants and inside a cave in the chasm wall. If you continue past it and head up a trail you will eventually come to the fortress a sorcerer used to occupy, now guarded by Tuluki legion soldiers (who sometimes die to the mutants). I think the cave is three or four rooms long and you see descriptions of gnawed bones and acid smells. You also get messages about the acidic smell nearly making you pass out and such. Of course, if you use a torch or light source you will find him at the end of the tunnel in a room full of bones of all kinds of creatures and people with acid marks scarring the walls. I was able to see in the dark and it didn't attack me since I had no light source.

I'm looking around for logs ... but I did have an encounter with "a massive silt tortoise" (IIRC the sdesc). Described to be as large as a floating island, crystals growing from it's back. Unfortunately the encounter resulted in a OHK of the merchant piloting the skimmer.
Any others happen across this beast?

I used to play a guy in the Byn under Raul and we went to break crystals from that creature's shell. It was a pretty hectic RPT, good concept though. I guess it's one of the IG sources of the glow crystals, as long as the creature lives, crystals glow?

Wait a minute, is a gaj as in the exceptionally tough arena beast the same thing as a gajak beetle? I think the beetles are in game.

The beetle I think are the ones that fly, where people climb up to fight the ginka plants after the mantis didn't kill them. My guess is that much like the beetles of Storm, they can't be mounted and tamed.

Hey Barka, whats the significance of Gaj in the gameworld, lore-wise? Are they mythic creature status?

Red brick tarantula. Very high Had a 50 day old warrior insta gibbed by one. Dusty plains. Walked into room, BAM. Insta gibbed. I didnt even get time to flee, removed all 130hp of mine (I was a dwarf) in FOUR hits, each doing horrendous damage.

lol. You probably walked in on a room with 10-12 of them in there and they all attacked you at once or something. I've lost extremely long lived warriors to these guys as well. Its a specific set of rooms where they keep a massive amount of them.

True. I had a 20 day warrior that could crush spiders pretty easily and yeah 50 days if kind of ridunkulous as far as play time is concerned. That's 1200 hours of playtime! The average game you buy for $50 usually is 40-60 hours of playtime, maybe 100 hours if its a Bethesda game like Skyrim or Fallout.

I really thought Gajak = Gaj. Gajak was just the full wording kind of like Mek = Mekillot y'know? I could be wrong but the whole psionic nonsense in the helpfiles isn't true either. Now the Arena Gaj is a totally different beast that thing has crazy stats but encountering Gaj in the wild is totally plausible and you could kill it. Same goes for anything really unless magick is involved but everything is killable in Arm save for buggy NPCs. I remember fighting the head of an ankheg in the halfling village once. It was near death and I fucked it up hard but it never died and it bit me for horrendous and killed me eventually. I guess it was supposed to be an RPT-type thing where just the head was there and you could fight it and force it back down into its burrow or cave or whatever and give chase.
