I know Bhagharva in real life . I used to hang out at his place and watch him fuck people over. The issue with Bhagharva and most of the story tellers/Imm's is they forget to be impartial. A good story teller doesn't care about the ending it's the journey that should count. People are going to throw wrenches into your well thought out static story, the trick is to react to the unpredicted events and either edit the story to suit the new direction or gently nudge it back on track. Just because someone does something to disrupt your plans doesn't mean he/she did it to be a dick and maybe the story will turn out better if you let it run the new course get him to post here imo

I honestly think those assholes (Bhag and co.) did their best they could back then. They just never once apologized for the antics. It's fuckin maddening to me that people have zero empathy.

There is no mystique. The guy weaseled his way on staff like many other storytellers and was given complete free reign to do as he pleased. There's nothing else to it.

Arguably the reason there is such a bureaucracy is because of bhag/hals antics. The reason ST's can't change a lot in the game world or have freedom to much in game is because of what they did.

That sucks that... things so long ago will still have an effect on the staffing culture. I think... giving story teller more to work with would be helpful. Just because a couple of ass hats abused it doesn't stand true for everyone.

There has to be a middle ground between a lack of controls that enables abuse, and a strangling bureacracy.

It's mostly Delerak with a giant chip on his shoulder. There were too many mages and psionics at the time, but that's not something one can attribute to Bhagharva. He made shit happen, which is more than most have managed since. Delerak mostly seems upset that it didn't happen for him. There were rather few things Bhag did genuinely wrong, and he generated some of the game's most memorable episodes.

If people think this board is a bunch of trolls who really enjoy ARM despite saying they're not then they're either lying to themselves, lying to the people they're talking too, or didn't read any of the posts.
EDIT - Or if they think the board is full of people that areimpossible to be pleased.

"I read it but its so old. I mean, not one of these people have any clue as to what was really going on" yeah i mean I don't think anyone here is claiming they have close to the full story, but most of us have pretty open minds. look at how fast that stuff with Abuzer turned around. i don't think he understands what 'trolling' is, and how shooting the shit with people about a game online doesn't really qualify people as 'trolls'. it's nice he had fun with his characters that he made custom housing for and promoted to the highest echelons of society, but that came at the expense of fun for other players. here's a quote from narlacc regarding him using knowledge obtained as a staffer to kill a player: armageddonmud.boards.net/thread/292/old-posts-on-arm-narlacc

EDIT - Or if they think the board is full of people that areimpossible to be pleased. i don't think it's many people as much as a handful who are the direct recipients of a lot of the criticism here. it's easier to deflect away complaints with a smug 'feh sorry those trolls didn't have fun like I intended' than use some introspection to say 'hrm maybe these complaints about it being unfair for me to lavish unobtainable powers and magick items on a select few has some validity, I can see where they're coming from'
