I think the real question is...
With people openly admitting that they read and some admitting that they post and others admitting that they troll over here. Do the two communities not already have a dialogue? Are ideas from one community not read by members of the other? Does there need to be some kind of formal treaty of versailles between Jcarter and Adhira? Wasn't the staff generally moving in the right direction in some regards prior to the wiki leak and the backtracking?

Grey Forest yompars can hit very hard. They're also poisonous. They also crowd you, like they have stealth, and they'll pile into a room with you if you fight one.

I think those bushes are only good for getting fruit. When you kill them you can harvest their delicious fruits. You cannot skin them they become a container object, it's the only place I've seen that code for dead NPCs.

I take a nap and people wreck on Malifaxis RL stuff. I go do the dishes and Delerak is (hopefully) trolling about DDOSing. I'm going to make some dinner, do not DDOS anyone not only because doing so is a waste of time but also because I'm 99.9999999% sure that organizing DDOS acts is violation of the proboards TOS.

Ah yeah I was a ranger and I'm pretty sure Whistler was an assassin. Still when a Faithful goes literally all the way to Luirs, you can't like... protect them from themselves.

Apparently Jihaens can pass through magical walls but he didn't have the ability yet and he couldn't climb. Only in retrospect do I realize that
1 - There should be some means for people to protect someone from ranged attacks even if it's like 25% per person protecting them to prevent that from happening.
2 - I should have pulled out agility spice and started shoving it up his nose to get him up the cliff.

Hey, Who is "you guys" because I am not the owner or host of this forum. I did not post the wiki link for other people to access. I did not ask for the wiki or codebase to be posted. I did not say HEY THIS IS GREAT when they were posted. I was barely involved in this matter at all until Nergal started making claims about my involvement right here: www.mudconnect.com/SMF/index.php?topic=79295.msg208572#msg208572 In fact I wouldn't be involved in this situation, nor would it be all over TMC, if Nergal had not decided it was a good idea to try and sandbag me on that platform. Note that this incident is not being followed on Optional Realities, I have no insulted Armageddon staff over this incident, I have not declared some holy crusade against them. The only reason I am publicly posting all of this information in as easily an accessible form as possible is because someone went out and said a bunch of stuff about me and my only recourse is to provide people with the ability to check for themselves (if they want to). Which is also why I supported posting request tool dumps. It is far better to simply provide information and say this is how I feel about it than to rely on saying "Well Nyr was a dick to me and I didn't deserve it" because then it's all just he said she said. EDIT PS - I have not even appealed my ban. |

Hey,
So a user claiming to be Barka contacted me regarding this incident. Barka is the user who released the 1999 codebase and the wiki. They provided me with information (which cannot be proven) and said that this was the real scenario. They also added that they felt bad that I had somehow become the primary focus of something they had done.
PS - Yes I said that I understood the claiming that it was a hack in order to protect a former staffer because I've seen it done before. Whether it's true or not is another story and by claiming it was a hack he opened a can of worms.
The above snippit is supposed to be proof of claims

I'm sure there is a portion of the playerbase who do not want to chance being censured or banned for sharing their opinions. I have several people on AIM right now who are shocked I was banned. None of them have posted in my defense and I have no asked them too. That being said this community wouldn't exist if there wasn't a sizable portion of CURRENT and ex players who had issues with staff direction and staff decisions and staff ethics.

It's a valid response. Some people just want to play internet games, they don't want to think about staffing ethics, longterm player retention, they see that thread and they see people concerned over it and go... Why? Just play the game? I'm on the game having a good time, you could be on the game having a good time too? This incident hasn't affected you, so why stress? --- Versus people (which is also valid) who go... Why did this happen? What is the other sides reason? Why did the staff choose to make a public letter? Why are people who are not Jcarter or Barka being targeted? Why wasn't there an announcement when these bans were made? The staff said they'd be considering their options, why not share which one they'd chosen? --- It's just the separation from someone who is interested in the community and someone who is interested solely in the game. Maybe. I'm not a sociologist.
I legitimately deserve a ban for posting request tool dumps alone. The only problem with them banning me is that they appeared to have waited for a completely unconnected incident done by someone else. If Nergal wanted to pop onto TMC and go, Jeshin violated this rule and this rule and this rule. I'd publicly say, yeah I did, while I wasn't a player and had quit the game anyway. That being said as a dude who wants text-based games to survive another 10-20 years, Armageddon is kind of important to me in the fact they can turn it around and make it something special again.

Also brief PS - I deserve like a cookie or something for not exploiting this whole mess as a way to drive traffic to Optional Realities. Just saying I could have routed those TMC posts to OR and then used OR to link back to all these threads as a way to get people looking at the site and possibly making an account. Like... The only reason I even posted on TMC to the wider MUD community was because Nergal came after me.

Lets look at it as someone who only saw the staff open letter and the discussions on the GDB and didn't feel like reading the multiple threads associated with this incident.
1. Information was obtained (possibly hacked, I'm pretty sure Barka said php injection) and then posted
2. For a time or the entire time the personal information of staff was accessible
3. The Shadowboard is full of people sharing coded secrets, old IC plots, and breaking several of the OOC/IC rules
4. Some of those shadowboard users were banned, but only the ones who were public about their involvement
Assuming you're having fun on the game and assuming it's not hurting you at all. Why would you find the staff actions to be unreasonable. Afterall I have posted request tool dumps, I have posted entire character masterlogs, I have discussed coded aspects of the game, I have done all of this with the full knowledge it violated some form of the Armageddon rules which I didn't believe in. I even noted on multiple occasions that I remained unbanned because it showed the staff were not targeting me at the time. The only reason a player/GDBer would have to be concerned is if they read further information off the ARM website and found out who RRR and I are. If they haven't done that they really have no reason to be concerned over people who were not involved in posting or hosting the codebase or wiki being punished.

To the GDBers credits. The people who brought up RRR and I being banned. I literally have no idea who they are. It says something that some of them looked into the incident and tried to get some information and ask questions. Especially when it's not friends/IM buddies of the people affected.
