yeah that's the long and short of it. also so you could have luxuries like knowing what skills your character guild gets. it's not a particularly subtle cartoon. Yeah, and it kind of rubbed me the wrong way as an actual veteran. But I get what you're saying. All that shit went into the zeitgeist and the Arm of today actually has skills in the helpfile. And there's a tool they publicize on their GDB which lets you build characters outside the game and see what branches what and where all your skills will be. So it's gone way beyond simply not banning people to actually embracing the culture of openness and transparency in the game. I'd say that you won, Jcarter, if your goal was to change Arm's negative culture. You may not have taken as much ground as you intended, if you had intents at all, but you shifted the culture. And that shift may not be complete. It may continue to shift in ways that a player like myself would consider productive. And it may be partly why the GDB has become such a shrill place of clique-hate. A lot of those who benefited from those bad behaviors and secretive, esoteric knowledge, have seen their power eroded when newbies like myself can just pop over here and learn how shit really works and be twinking at a level on par with their years of experience within a few months. my goal was to run off nyr. not only did i run him off, but i ran off his hairline too.

He must be of a mind that if you did not loudly and repeatedly condemn the faux hack, that you must be an implicit supporter of it. At least that is the impression I am getting. Since you were neutral you might as well have been the Kevin Mitnick of lame online text games.
Basically, yeah! For a person who was an attempted community figure. In that linked thread, there is a peculiar mention about some GDBers discussing spamming complaints about these forums in order to have it shut down. Only to have Rathustra explicitly say to "not" do it.
There is a pleothera of instances when some passionate player of mud A decides to cause havoc to a competitor mud B. And the admin of mud A will 'always' condemn this.
Nobody is saying that Jeshin was holding up the lamp while someone was hacking into anything. Thats ridiculous. He was an attempted public figure. Not quite, but potentially on his way to have the weight equal to creators of TMC. Not condemning hacking from him, was supporting it.
Thats only an opinion? Sure. It was. But as an aggrieved party, arm staff had the right to react to Jeshin as they did. Maybe not its moot, but it wasnt then.
Having said that. Things went downhill from there and a lot of dumbass bannings began to happen. Mosly Nergal going wild. Those weren't really justified in my opinion and were soon revoked. Without anyone asking.
Jeshins though? Sorry, but I personally supported that ban. Its moot now. Years have passed. Appeal it if you like.

#1 You don't need to apologize to me. I never appealed my ban. The communication between staff and I are actually available on this board and probably on that archived mudconnector thread. I have said (multiple times today) I was a valid target for a ban which is why I never appealed it.
#2 I am glad you finally admit that it is what I did NOT say and not what I said which is the problem. My actions speak louder than words. I never hosted the material. I never supported spreading it. I never brought ANY of the discussion about it to my forum. I did nothing to publicize beyond TMC and this forum that there was even a ridiculous attack on me and my community for something we didn't do.
I know for someone who writes a lot but backs things up little it might be a foreign concept for you to understand speaking through action, but I did. It is not my job to defend Armageddon (although I have been fair to it) and it is not on me to announce my support or lack thereof towards something.
#3 Whether you like it or not I am a public figure in the community. Am I a big figure? No. Am I a particularly good figure? No. I am however a figure because I write what I mean and I don't quibble. When I edit I post I clearly mark it. I never take back what I say. I do it all publicly, openly, under my name. I do this because I believe in honesty and I enjoy a good debate/argument. I had very high hopes for OR and for my game. They didn't pan out but that doesn't mean I don't have hope for the genre and it doesn't mean I don't still make posts to that effect.
#4 No one is saying that Staff cannot do whatever they want. It's their game they can do whatever you want. You can do whatever you want. People are saying, hey maybe those other people are wrong... or assholes... petty... or culpable in some skeezy shit that happened in the past.

That is an entirely inappropriate and childish way to go about things. Banning him simply because he was neutral about it and not taking up a pitchfork on a forum that was not connected to Armageddon in any official capacity is just petty. It is an example of why staff has such a bad reputation, which is entirely justified because incidents like these are exactly why they have earned the condemnation of the community.

Another thing, before I forget on my way home. Here’s another thing to consider: While it’s entertaining for some, I guess(?), what qwerty has been doing is an insult to the people that have legitimately been wronged in some way even though it’s all readable right here on this forum. It’s a very condescending and marginalizing way of showing the other side by calling this forum the “cheaters board” and saying everyone that posts here is some kind of power gamer. Also, shakes....you aren’t a newbie. In what sense? Are you saying requesting more data, trying to pick apart the events, and finally voicing my agreement and disagreement is insulting to them? Well. Okey. But that means that the only way to act is to agree with everything. How do you tell a 'truly' wronged one, from bullshit? Or agree with everything regardless? But then, does it not devalue everyone? True, or not? Kronibas experience was very likely a true event. Whistleblowers claims have every telltales of being fake. Right now, Kronibas has my respect and I take what he says seriously. Obviously, I dont believe a word Whistleblower said. That seems like a just situation. The alternative you are proposing is to agree with both equally. That will only resilt in 'both' being disregarded. I dont know. I like the former scenario better.

That will only resilt in 'both' being disregarded. I dont know. I like the former scenario better. It's not so much what you say or what you ask for, even though the proof you ask for often would out someone. It's more about you ignoring the history of this board and hyperfocusing on the many dickheads that have popped in here over the years that somehow make this a cheater's board. armageddonmud.boards.net/thread/942/qwerty-alleges-nergal-harassed-policearmageddonmud.boards.net/thread/802/most-recent-banningarmageddonmud.boards.net/thread/827/jacks-banned-threadarmageddonmud.boards.net/thread/801/koman-locke-threadarmageddonmud.boards.net/thread/784/retconned-oblivionarmageddonmud.boards.net/thread/919/storearmageddonmud.boards.net/thread/574/threats-armageddon-staff-misc-awfulI don't see me proposing anything other than you being a shill and a pretty obvious one and that your cause would be better served by you not saying anything at all. A little part of me thought...maybe the game might be worth playing again because it's so quiet here. Then you came along with your GDB pretzel logic and made me decide, no, nothing fundamentally has changed. You literally responded, by not responding to any point I made. You would like a scenario that doesn't exist better, that's kind of your thing. So let me reiterate: You're doing something you don't even realize you're doing. By being super biased in the other direction (I don't know why because it's pointless) you're being destructive to the very thing you claim to be trying to accomplish. You aren't changing anyone's mind, not the people that won't play the game, not the people that do play the game that lurk here. If I were someone that never played Armageddon, if I read all of the things here I'd think: I probably should skip Armageddon. Gee that qwerty guy is trying awfully hard here. I think I'll probably still skip the game...what's on Steam? In other words, you aren't doing Armageddon any favors. You might think it's a cheater's board, when pretty much all the people that still play the game come here to lurk, that pretty much makes everybody playing a...cheater. You might think everybody that comes here is a powergamer, but point one says nearly everyone that is playing is a powergamer. Face it dude, you're a sockpuppet and a bad one. That stuff works on the GDB, but this isn't the GDB. This thread started about people suiciding because they aren't getting the character they wanted and strength being overpowered, full stop. You've been trying to twist that around since the beginning of this thread. Tell you what. You'll have my respect when you can actually talk about the topic without seeming like a sockpuppet shill.

You make it sound like you got sprayed with water hoses and attacked by dogs in the civil rights movement. Oh, Jcarter? Jcarter's fine. He made it out. Wish I could say the same for the Bothan Spies.

When we came back from the Forum Wars, we thought we were getting a hero's welcome. Instead, they spit on us and called us plot-killers.

It's not just about that particular griefer, though. Throughout the years, this sort of shit has happened too many times to count. That one case was just the most egregious example because it was clearly someone just all-out griefing with throwaway dwarves, suiciding them to take out a number of chars that way. It's by no means the first or the last time we see max strength characters do absurd things that equal the kind of coded power you would normally expect of high-karma options. I've tried it myself and it's completely ridiculous how much damage you can do just because you rolled top strength. That's the thing, though. If someone has a problem with getting PK'd while sitting in the Gaj, aren't they too much of a wimp for Armageddon? I hate to be a gate keeper, but if getting PK'd bothers someone, wouldn't they be happier playing Arx?

Wow. That may be the single dumbest post anyone has ever made on this forum, and that's no small feat. We've been privy to quite the collection of stupid shit around here but this frankly takes the cake. Let's look at the short but dizzying route that your mental gymnastics took: - A repeat griefer with a self-proclaimed goal of "killing the game" (look around for the thread, it's pretty funny) using multiple throwaway characters to take out random people with no roleplay involved whatsoever ...is then swiftly reduced to: - Getting PKed in the Gaj, all context suddenly shoved aside ...and promptly progresses into: - The sheer concept of PKing, period ...before finally arriving at: - If they don't like it, play another game In one lonesome line of text, you moved the goalposts three times. I'm honestly impressed that you managed it with such brevity. From a griefing spree so extreme and widely felt that people literally ran an RPT to mitigate the OOC impact it had, and all the way to "if getting PK'd bothers someone, they should quit playing," in one breath. Unholy fucker of mothers, that sort of intellectual regression is enough to knock the MAGA hat off even the most mentally stunted denizens of the internet. I think there are actual monkeys who would stare at the words that sprayed from your ass onto my screen and shake their furry heads in dismay at what utter asinine nonsense their human cousins are capable of. We may just have failed as a species. I think I need to lie down. Let's try to wrangle this into a real-life analogy that matches your comment: Joe goes to see a boxing match. Halfway through, another spectator randomly stands up, pulls out a gun, and shoots him without warning and for no reason. At Joe's funeral, his neighbor trollageddon says: "If the sight of a gun bothered him so much, wasn't he too much of a wimp to live in America? I hate to be a gatekeeper, but if you don't like violence, you shouldn't go to a boxing match." Now, I do know that you're simply trolling and none of what you post around here is a legitimate opinion, but I just couldn't leave that one alone. The longer and more cringeworthy shilling effort that you presented us with in the fresh meat thread, that one I'm not bothering with. It didn't have the same level of highly concentrated stupidity as the turd you left in here. This one's genuinely a masterpiece.
