"For Tuluk, to all players:
Apply for Tuluk roles, and play in Tuluk, especially if you haven't.
Tuluk needs more people to play in it. Both city-states need players to make them really pop. We can't have conflicts between the two city-states without players on both sides, just like you can't play cops and robbers by only playing the brave police officer or the wily villain. Even if you like playing one side more than the other, well, the other side has changed quite a bit, and you'll be a better roleplayer and contribute more to the game by fleshing that side out. Not gritty enough? It has gritty elements. Confused? Ask for help. Branch out. Do something different. This larger conflict stuff is something we'd like to facilitate, and we are asking for your help. Help us help you murder, corrupt, and betray. Thanks."

they're doing it wrong. if you wanted to inject players into a certain part of the game, you need to do it in bursts, not a few apps here and there and hoping for the best. get a cache of player subs, say 15, then have those roles/pcs become playable all on the same day. a mini rpt. that way, players would have the guarantee that they would actually have the company of other characters and not be roaming around a boring, dead-feeling wasteland. but even if you did do that people wouldn't be interested because its tuluk and people simply dont like tuluk anymore/have had too many bad experiences lol

I think it would be less of a dead wasteland for the sponsored roles if 50% of the players in their city didn't spamsneak around with their hoods pulled up. Gotta get that risk-less skill boost, amirite. *50% is a guesstimate.

Oh my god, that's priceless, and horrible. It's almost like people who don't play the game being admins fucks it up and makes it unplayable with the miserable experience their changes generate, then promote from within to give that same problematic person more power. LOL ya'll.

If I were to ever play Arm again, Tuluk would be the very last place I would consider playing. I'd rather make a character who lives in the alleys of Red Storm than suffer the example of failed game design that is Tuluk. I made several attempts at it back when I still had faith in the game, and every single one ranks amongst the worst times I ever had on Arm. It is bereft of spirit and substance, which is reflected in the bland, forgettable roleplay that always defined Tuluk.
The place is also completely antithesis to what makes roleplay work, and its design is so dull and stifling that I quit the game for long periods of time during/after each of my Tuluk PCs. They should kill the place off in a war and then focus the game around the southlands. It's a much more appealing environment, too, and better suited to the setting than the inexplicably easy and bountiful northlands. The whole grasslands and forest part of Zalanthas adds nothing to the game.
In short, they should try to fix the problem instead of simply asking people to endure it.

i think it's hilarious. And Nyr is still going on about the fucking uniforms. Why in the hell would anyone willngly play in tuluk? the culture's been destroyed, the playerbase was driven off (by Christmas, which was celebratd for the first time in 2013 according to nyr), and no matter where you go the staff will shit on your activity. So leavng Allanak for Tuluk means leaving the last center of activty in the game to try and make the deadest part of the game active while being sabotaged because the staff dont like how youre doing it.

I must've misinterpreted it. Sounded to me like they're trying tto clean out the old garbage and build up the new changes because the new changes came with old garbage that just wouldn't go away. Hard to implement anything fun, if the crap that made it crappy (mostly other players spending all their time mudsexing or sitting idle or spam-twinking steal with their hoods up or mindbending the ruination of everything) won't leave.
I know there's plotlines going on but they never seem to go anywhere. From my perspective in playing it doesn't look like stonewalling from staff as much as it is inaction and storage from key players. There are definitely things that CAN be done that I know staff doesn't have a problem with. Just needs people to do those things. Til then, my character and others all we can do is sit there waiting for someone who has the IC authority to do something and come up with the ideas that involve everyone else. So if staff wants to bring in new PCs and TELL them what those ideas should be, more power to them. Maybe something interesting will happen.

I may or may not apply for these. I may or may not receive the roles.
I am open to suggestions for any of the four roles that are open.

The acceptance that Tuluk needs players is an improvement over the nonspecific denial that Tuluk needs players.

yeah theyd be more successful if they just outright guaranteed a karma boost (1 or 2 dep on the role) for accepted roles that survive the first 6 mos. die before then and someone else can app for the chance at guaranteed karma, rinse wash repeat

Players play for fun (at least that's why I pay). Solution for Tuluk: Make it fun (and keep it simple). If staff builds it, players will come.
While I agree with the idea that promoting existing characters for leadership roles is best, Templars and Nobles are different. To be fair, it's a rolecall for northern AND southern nobles/templars.
