Maybe Armageddon is getting good again because the staff realize that they will be called out when they are unnecessarily large dicks or just wrong to players.
Maybe they feel the pressure and, as a result, have stepped up their A game.

Or maybe it's because you and jcarter are finally gone from the game and your toxicity and insanity is kept away from the sane players that are still enjoying the game and localized in one easy to find sanitarium forum. Ever thought about that? Anyway, fuck the both of you, I feel like I've wasted enough time here and now it's time to return to more productive use of my time, like bitching about my stats on the GDB.

It does seem that Arm is finally doing a few things right, at least. It's still a long way from being a game that I could be proud of playing again, and probably won't be until Nyr is gone, but it's not currently in its worst ever state.

IIRC, Sharak was one of his first characters too. Hahaha. Not exactly. He'd been around for awhile before that - at least a year and a half RL playing karma races in iso.

IIRC, Sharak was one of his first characters too. Hahaha. Not exactly. He'd been around for awhile before that - at least a year and a half RL playing karma races in iso. Heh, howdy folks. Recently ran into a fellow player on a different game medium, who knew about Arm and this board, we were chatting a while and I mentioned I played the character Sharak... He said that he had heard the name before and guided me here. I have to say, I'm kind of proud that the character is still being talked about. I'm sure there might be skeptics as to whether or not I actually am 'pof Sharak' but I'll just post my end of things since it's been a good number of years since then. First myth busted: Sharak was my very first character on Armageddon. My first application was denied because I tried to write up a hairy dwarf who forged metal, I'm sure you can all imagine how that turned out and I was sent back to the drawing board with a friendly pointer towards the game documentation. My second attempt was Sharak, born in the slums of Allanak to a couple of gutter trash refuse cleaners. I -believe- his class setup was Warrior/Thug but like I said it's been so long I don't even remember. Second myth busted: I knew no other player on the game except for the one who introduced me to the game, who was playing a desert elf and who I never even interacted with. The only conversations I had with admins were when I eventually became leader of the 'Byn and had to send in the weekly reports of our activities and what had been going on with our jobs or other noteworthy roleplay hooks. Some of the most prominent figures in the Byn at that time were Fathi (my character's lover and hook for much of his later rp, including his eventual servitude to the Dragon as a Thrall, under the promise of being able to bring her back to life), Torq, a certain green skinned dwarf who's name I can't remember for the life of me, and I'm not sure if I got the name right but it was a half-giant that had been around forever, I think his name was Zun? Zul? something like that. Of course there were a good number of other quality bynners but these are the ones that stick out the most in my memory. Sorry if I don't remember you other fella's who made the game so much fun. Third myth busted: Everything and anything I ever discovered about the game world, was learned through travel and my own curiosity and lack of fear about hooking other players into my roleplay. I learned first hand about magical weaponry by engaging magickers and even sorcerers in discussions, I learned locations for different places by spending hours upon hours upon days wandering the game world in exploration and almost died I don't even know how many times from forcing myself to run everywhere with a tent on my back and just the bare amount of water and food to get me to the next forage/oasis. I poked and prodded into everything I came across because for me, Armageddon was one of the greatest (and still is) mudding experiences of my rpg gaming career. I took risks, enjoyed rewards. And all within the boundaries of never having once asked for or 'demanded' any more attention than anyone else in the game world. Until the day I was running around as usual, alone out near the Copper Mines after that great big world event that had everyone being knocked out (or something to that effect, I don't really recall maybe it was seeing visions... But the people of the copper mines 'dug too deep' and something woke up) and that's when my transformation into a Dragon Thrall began, and even then there was no communication directly from admins saying 'This is how X Y and Z is done, this is where point A B and C is' ... There were a few things that were assisted with by the will of the Dragon, mostly to keep Templars from using a Whiran to pull me across a thousand rooms just so they could kill me at the end of the ride (which was attempted more than a few times) and a few things such as choosing others to become -my- thralls and the removal of the black gems from a few chosen magickers, the rest of the daily activities were guided solely by my decisions. I had plans of raising a fortress out in the depths of the Sea of Salt, to take hostages and slaves, to eventually wage war against the Southern City. I was planning to capture and sacrifice the Plainsman and eat his heart in a ritual to gain a portion of his powers for my own. I stalked the Town south of 'Nak looking for the pet sorcerer of Allanak (Glimmer? Shard? something, don't even remember her name but it was some kid) and had the same intention if I couldn't turn her into a minion of the Dragon. It was all going well until one day when I was in my cave of choice at the time, when I was suddenly psychically assaulted into unconsciousness, and I believe it was Quick (I learned later) that stepped through some sort of dimensional gate, and stabbed me to death while I was out and unable to do anything all in a matter of about five minutes of getting spammed with the stun ability. That's how I lived and died as Sharak. And just a side note, I had around a hundred hours played at least, maybe hundred and fifty... But I hadn't even branched any advanced weapon skills, I wasn't some twinking beast running around smashing everything just to 'level up' either. So, again, I salute the players of the game for making it an ... enthralling... experience, and I am more pleased than most of you could believe to find out that people are still talking about him and that he made an impact. I think I remember one of my later characters overhearing a couple of merchants in game saying something along the lines of "If Sharak had actually lived, the North and South may have had a reason to allign and make peace in order to deal with him." ... That line still drifts to me when I think about the time I spent playing the game, and I'm proud as an rpg fan of having left that mark. *salute* Pof Sharak.

Cool story. Never got to play with Sharak, but I heard great stories about him. You still play?
Edit: On second thought, maybe I *did* meet Sharak back when I ran Flint, not sure. I kinda remember blue being in your sdesc? Is that right? I do remember a city elf running about the wastes with a tent on his back. Maybe I first met you when you left the Byn, not sure.

I do not still play, unfortunately, though I have been considering getting back into mudding. I honestly have no clue what my old password might have been or even what my account name was at this point.
As far as Sharak's desc', that's another thing that's kind of lost and hazy in my memory though I do remember that just about every tattoo-able part of him was marked with that that sandy texture tattoo. I think he may've been blue-inked in the face. And I do think I recall a character named Flint in my time as well... Likely near the end just before he was 'found out' and had to cancel his attempts at turning the Byn into his own private army and flee into the wastes and to an island out in the sea of silt for a while.
After I left the Byn after being found out, I no longer bothered hiding my capabilities and didn't dick around with a tent anymore. At that point I'd energize myself up or run around and burrow whenever I felt like it.
