Mounts in Cities: Tuluk: Inix Luirs: Ox Allanak: Beetle Redstorm: Unsure Probably Beetle. All cities sell lesser versions of mounts erdlu, sunback and so on, but the premiers listed above are almost exclusive to those city states. It is worth noting that different mounts give different duration of "command delay" (not executing a command for a fixed number of milliseconds) which means that some mounts are "faster" than others. Someone on an erdlu can outrun someone on a beetle but the erdlu will tire faster than the beetle. And now here's the next round of newbie questions from gogogaget:
- Does attempting to contact an PC that is offline, which results in failure, act the same way as failing to contact an online PC i.e skill gain chance?
- Does a kick that bounces off the skin count as a success or a failure?
- What is considered a failed flee? When the enemy gets a chance to attack as you flee?
- What's the difference between sniffing or smoking spice?
- Where do you get climbing gear? (fanged ankle spikes, gloves, boots?)
- Where can I buy a dufflebag or whatever it's called that's slung over the shoulder the same way a bandolier is? I remember seeing "a compact, desert-camouflaged travel pack" as well as "sturdy rope-slung leather sack" - where can I purchase one?
- On the same note where can I buy a canteen that is slung over the shoulder?
- Again, on the same token, what is and where can I buy climbing rope that can be slung over the shoulder?
- Where can I buy carru hide boots? Is it player-crafted only? What boots provide the best stamina bonus and where can I get them?
- On the topic of stamina bonus, anyone have a list or is able to list a few pieces of gear that give +5 or more stamina? (I know people are saying you shouldn't need any because you should be using mounts but it is very useful to stack +stamina gear when salt or spice gathering...)
- Is there a shop in Allanak that you can sell raw meat at?
- Does character weight and height affect stats? (The description of strength in the strength help file leads me to believe it might...) I've noticed a trend of getting good Str, End, hp/mv/st rolls from maxing out weight and height (but it may also be from picking a "in prime of life" age) my testing is from such a small sample that it's hard to tell if it's just a coincidence or not but it has been very consistent - anyone have any hard evidence regarding this?
That's all the new questions I have for now...

No idea, but you can just way npc's instead. Lux/Finch/Vennant/Elwor/Clint/Jathlur/Shyra/Ariada/Tallambre/Chance/Globbuluk. Staff seem not to mind, and contact is a dumb skill to grind anyway.
Does a kick that bounces off the skin count as a success or a failure?
Success, sadly.
What is considered a failed flee? When the enemy gets a chance to attack as you flee?
No. A failed flee is when your character panicks and freezes in place for being such a pansy.
What's the difference between sniffing or smoking spice?
Flavor, mostly.
Where do you get climbing gear? (fanged ankle spikes, gloves, boots?)

Just ask kurac for all these things, they're the desert gear House after all. I'm not sure why you haven't tried this in the first place.
Where can I buy carru hide boots? Is it player-crafted only? What boots provide the best stamina bonus and where can I get them?
Ask Kurac/any indie merchant. No idea which is best, don't really care either.

Again, no idea. Just wear desert-themed shit and ankle wraps and such. Foraging for anything becomes piss easy once you hit apprentice anyway.
Is there a shop in Allanak that you can sell raw meat at?
Yes, the grocer's does.

You're right on the money with this one. It's why so many pc's, including mine, have maxed weight/height. I'd play far more average-sized characters if the incentive for making buff chars wasn't there.

Since there are periodic "subdue" checks where the subdued targets tries to break free is it safe to assume if they break free you failed a subdue check and are eligible for a skill-up chance?

No. A failed subdue check is failing to subdue a thing. When something slips out of your hands they succeeded a flee check.

When you fire a projectile like an arrow at a target and you miss and it says "You fire <projectile> north." is that considered a fail with chance of skill up or do you have to hit the target and any body part other than the neck is a failure?

Shooting into another room won't start your timers. Shooting at a mob or PC will. Ideally you want to completely miss your target, but archery is a skill where anything other than the neck is a partial fail.

How does the psionic barrier skill advance? By failing to erect the barrier or when someone tears down your barrier with a contact?

Failing to erect it. I have leveled barrier to master without anyone ever breaking it.

Does there have to be NPC's in the room you're sneaking into for it to succeed / fail and give a chance for skill-ups?

If you failed a stealth check it's because someone (or something) caught you trying.

Yes or mob. - Do mounts count as far as this is concerned if you dismount then sneak into the room you left them? I'm asuming they are the same as any other mob but just wanted to check
- Also how do you skill-up watch?
- Does using a bow with a weak draw have any penalties? (high STR characters have a hard time finding bows with a perfect draw strength...)

Weak bows don't hit as hard as stronger bows.
