Eh it's just being curious. I like to know why people don't take certain courses of action. I like to know whether people are genuinely ignorant of certain things that maybe I can help them with it in the future. Are the staff (or I guess I should say Nyr in this case) really that incompetent (no offense to Anaia) that you can't even figure out how to use simple screen sharing over skype to show someone something? If that's the case I'm sure I can help in some way as it isn't that hard to do and we can learn a lot from simple mistakes like this.

My question would be.. why not just do a screen share through one of the many various programs? Skype has screen sharing, oovoo, logmein etc etc. Because it takes all of 2 seconds to take a screenshot and put it on photobucket rather than downloading that shit and making accounts and stuff as well as setting up a time to do it. I rarely use skype and every time I do it's a hassle to try to remember my username or password for example.

Anaiah, My apologies, but surely you can see how terrible it looked at the time. Why was it not just sent by email to Nyr? Surely somewhere better existed than your public, personal photobucket. I did what I was asked to by my superior in order to solve a problem, not because it was the best solution, but because it is what I was asked to do.

He already had to tell me how to make a screenshot (I don't tend to make them, what's the point when you can copy/paste text or send a photo directly without the rest of the screen?), I can imagine he was getting impatient at that point.

If you're going to do something do it right the first time. Just do a screen share. That's how I would have handled it personally.
Unfortunately narcissism finds it's way into even our best and brightest leaders. "My time is more precious than yours why are you wasting it.. etc." I think that's a big factor in stuff like this. As a former IT guy and computer repair tech a screenshot tells me nothing I want to see it in real time.

What made you decide to oust yourself here and break your staff contract? Was there a single incident which made you decide to do this or was it a series of events? Thanks, Jimmy AmandaGreathouse was my forum name when not on staff. It's permabanned, so I can use the word was. It was the unbelievable condescension demonstrated and the vague character assassinations of Wug there. While 99.9% of the time, I am perfectly happy to try and go on about my day without saying much or anything about stuff like that, I was drunk by 3 pm before I even posted the answer I posted, in the 'do you feel the love' thread, revealing that no, I don't, with an explanation of why (including 2 special apps for whirans denied because 'we'd rather not see you play that guild right now' which Natious edited all of and replaced with a link to a star trek youtube video entitled 'worf gets denied over and over' hahaha, hilarious!), and that, too, was fine when it was edited out. But the implication that that was somehow IC information by Wug, and the condescension there of explaining to me how staff decisions were made when I was on staff for over a year, and then to say that I was complaining about staff when I added that I felt Nyr didn't like me... it was just enough that, being tipsy, I said 'fuck it', came over here, and started posting. Before I was even sober, I was banned. That was enough. Damage done. Now there's nothing to do but try to make the best of it and help you guys out/try to show some level of transparency over here. Because I still love the game. And I want others to enjoy it as well. Amanda? WTH? Yeah I know you, personally. Doesn't matter though. Never thought you'd do something like this but I'm pretty sure most of us are thankful.

Now I'm seriously curious who you are that you know me personally. I'm not sure what you mean by the last sentence, could you elaborate? Do something like what? Grateful for what?

Nyr might be the poster-boy for the problem but he isn't the only one. The problem is not only a lack of communications skills, but also this pompous elitist attitude that makes them some staff members feel like they have a right to talk down to players or treat them like idiots. The reason for this is very likely because they can criticize us but we cannot criticize them in return without punishment. There is nothing wrong with calling Nyr a jerk or a prick when he is in fact very well being one. In equal fairness though, some players suffer the same problem. For example, if I was staff and I politely asked someone to stop doing something while giving them reasons as to why, and they responded to me with a terse one liner such as 'disconcerning', I would have probably banned them too for a short time. Sorry but fair is fair. I can't say Nyr is or not a jerk. The time we had an issue we solved it quite civilly. It might be similar to how you approach a gung ho cop known for being an asshole and giving tickets, and yet after being stopped by said cop he acts quite differently then a jerk, both of us engage in civil conversation and he gives me no ticket. Of course I'n not the repeat offender type either.

Can't say more then that. Grateful of what you are sharing here. I would have wanted that you didn't get ousted and all though.

it is not impossible as he/she did confess to sharing information with a friend in an earlier post when i questioned the typo mention in the weekly updates but this was after the ban. it would be better to ask IF he/she was sharing it instead of assumed fact since if you knew these things for facts you would not have to come here and ask. it does some questionable but there are many possible innocent reasonings for it as well. It was not confessing to sharing information with anyone. My spouse plays. I've let him borrow my laptop to play on at intervals since his is broken. i have gone back to read your post that i referenced and you are correct. you have my apologies for again being of poor understanding.

It's perfectly alright, I would imagine that english as a second language is very tricky. Hell it's a bit above a lot of people who speak it as a first language. And google translate gets the idea across but can seriously lack for what it is you're trying to express.

From a PM: Why did Shaloooonsh leave the game? Barka is partially correct. Tiernan had a girlfriend who played and was massively abusive. Shalooonsh gave her bad account notes and was stuck as a ST indefinitely as a result, and as a ST you have many responsibilities, but very little ability to do things that change or affect the game world without a massive amount of shit to slog through and getting a higher up on board first. I know this. I actually wrote code to have a custom piercing npc that worked the same way the custom tattoo npcs did. They wanted me to 'write up a couple piercings as tattoos for them' (ala, mdescs that you can buy for wear locs), and I did that. I also went in, found the custom tattoo code, and copied a modified version that worked to give custom piercings instead, that would've been available for pcs in cities as well. I tried 3 different higher-ups, from Rathustra to Nyr and back again, to get the shit approved because as a ST I couldn't put new code in. And was denied every time. That actually happened earlier in the week that I left. Funny how the gyppos got custom piercing tats and no one else did, though. Real funny.

Favoritism. Simple as that. You could submit a metric fuck ton of content to Arm, no matter how well it is written or coded, or whatever and they would never put it in just to spite you.
It's petty. It's vindictive. And it's going to end up being the downfall of Arm if they don't get their act together. And I HATE saying that because I'm sure Arm will survive but it will never be the game it was with this new set inflexible, iron-fisted staff that they have running it.

This is very disheartening, so much for checks and balances, fairness and transparency. I'm beginning to see that this is the game we play against the staff, rather with them. Can you tell us who of the staff, in your opinion, is a positive force for the game?
