Yeah, cyberrapist and IRL stalker with the way he was sending Bebop pictures of her workplace. So it seems like he was a about 10 meters away from being a real rapist. Probably would have been a real rapist if he had a lower IQ. Seriously. There are studies about psychopaths with higher IQ being more adaptable to society and less likely to actually commit any crimes. Low IQ is also associated with more muscle strength, so maybe he just isn't physically strong enough to physically rape people. Not that I'd place his IQ more than a few points above average. While he might not be a rapist in the legal sense, he is definitely rapey. He appears to prefer dating women many decades younger than him, and part of what turned me towards hating his ass a few years ago was seeing him egg on a 14 year old boy to play an unhealthy amount. The presence of that underaged player prompted me, Bebop, and a few others to make the game 18+ and he was one of the folks opposing this, given how much he was grooming this child. I am not a therapist or a criminologist so I can't really diagnose his deal, but all of his behavior together is, well... rapey. The man doesn't respect consent and he hates people who won't consent to his molestations.

Also not a criminologist etc., but I read a lot of psychology stuff just because it's interesting to me. I think it's crazy that he had enough flags from his behavior on the GDB alone to make strong judgements about his character, (repeatedly acted out to bait people on to get them banned/dogpiled or close threads he didn't like, knowing that he could get away with it and they couldn't) without the reports about any other activity. I can't fathom how he ever made staff given that, much less keeping it for so long.

I will say when he was in his thirties I was told by himself and the person in question that he "dated" a sixteen year old who he later married when she came of age and the laws of consent in Minnesota make that questionable as to what would legally be defined as rape. I do not still speak to that woman, but in hindsight she seemed to struggle with feelings of victimization. Take that as you will about whether his actions have been limited to the Internet. As well as accusations from players that he distributed photos of them and touched them without consent at player meetings. Also that quote of me saying something about catgirls is a weird quote thing - I didn't say that.

It's not my story to tell but there is at least one confirmed case of actual irl sexual molestation. So yeah. There you go.

Where there's smoke, there's fire! looks like a lot of "give a shit" in the community has been ground into dust finally It's almost like high quality humans get specifically targeted and slandered by staff. They don't give a shit about players or doing what's right for the game, they just want to be idolized by [redacted insult about the sycophants remaining]. I mentioned ArmageddonMUD to coworkers once or twice, but now it is with such great regret. I don't want my colleagues to look up this game and see the slimy community that's left now that anyone with brains and integrity has been chased off.

No wonder they perma-banned me for calling them fucking pedos after Shalooonsh tried to scapegoat my account for his sexual harassment of a female player on Discord. Didn't even realise how sick these people are at the time.

Who is willing to bet me that Mal is allowed to continue playing, AND will still get high Karma roles while people who actually want to play the game keep getting denied. This is why I hope the game burns to the fucking ground.

Wow. I haven't checked in on Arm in a while, and just spent (too much) time reading this whole thread.
I first logged on to Arm in '94, I think. I didn't start playing in earnest until the year 2000. But I used that same player account, so it's probably one of the oldest accounts in the game. Certainly one of the oldest with any "modern" activity on it. Circa 2 years ago, they finally banned my GDB account, and I scrambled my password, and it felt awful. I've never been party to the Armageddon OOC culture, never had high karma, never played a role that anyone would remember, and would take long breaks from the game without anyone noticing or caring.
But even still, to leave THE GAME and know I was never going to go back felt pretty bad. Until it didn't. There will come a day, for Bebop and the rest of you leaving, where you will notice that you stop thinking about Arm, and it'll be a good thing. A very good thing. You will be free of this all-devouring time waste, if you just give yourselves time to let it go.
Of course, I'm here, reading this board from time to time. Sometimes I even read the GDB. Sometimes I even get the itch to stealth into a second account and play. But on most days, I don't think about Arm.
I've said for literal decades that the iron curtain needs to come down between players and staff. The staff board should be readable (but not writable) by players, with just a small secret plot section that gets exposed to open air after a set time period. There should be a free-for-all OOC section of the GDB where spoilers and stories are encouraged for any events more than a few months old. The code should be open sourced on github, with an invitation for everyone to read it and improve it. The game should have been logging everything and publishing those logs after X months.
All that creative output that people poured into the game over its long existence has been mostly lost to the ether already because of the short-sighted Find-out-IC rule.
For example, if every log was eventually published, every piece of text every written in game put online via an automatic process, AIs would be training on those logs, and ChatGPT would know how to simulate Arm down to it's smallest molecule. You'd be able to ask the chatbot to time travel back to 2010 and play a version of the game as it existed then, for example, with all the characters and situations intact.
But that didn't happen, and so that opportunity is gone. More to the point:
Over the last few of years, I've read all the stories of abuse coming out here and on /r/MUD, and I'm convinced even more so that I was right all along. The Find-Out-IC rules facilitated abuse. I'm ashamed I didn't see the signs of it happening, perhaps due to willful ignorance. And I fear as bad as the situations described in this thread are, there might be even worse things waiting to to be discovered.
The game should end. All the creativity poured into it, the uniqueness of the story it told, the uniqueness of the creative community around it are rendered unimportant by the culture of abuse it has engendered. The penalty shouldn't be a staff account or two getting lol-banned (but secretly invited back in to play anyway). The penalty should be the end of the game.
This is finally, finally the beginning of the end. Don't return to the game, no matter what itch you get. Find different avenues, be it solo RPG or group TTRPGs, or MUSHes, or just playing a real video game or writing a real story (even an Arm themed one). Or rehashing old stories with old friends here on the real Official Armageddon Board.
Just don't give in to the itch to go back. It's time we killed this thing.

The game lost 8% of its players in the last month. That doesn't sound like a big number but the game normally loses 8% per year. 10-11 players looked at this situation over the last month and decided "nah, fuck this". That's a good sign.
This slow drip of staff unraveling the story bit by bit is a cheap PR tactic. Instead of staff looking like a bunch of idiots for not being able to come up with a statement with a whole month to work on one, critics of staff look crazy for not letting them tell the whole story and believing too much in the spooky shadowboard. The staff know their players, that's for sure.
This game isn't worth preserving. After all of this is done, staff will go right back to abusing the players until the next "Big Event". Then promises for change. And then another "Big Event". Eventually, it will involve you. You can't just bury your head in the bone sword game and pretend it doesn't exist. As the player count (x) falls, the chances staff select you (1/x) for abuse and meaningless punishment approach 100%.

I agree to kill this shit, I think I actually started back in 91 or so when you could dupe shit and lead animals to the gates with impunity. Times were good back then. Halaster leaving? Good, fuck him. The spend so much fucking time on petting the nobles and hooking them up with shit while ignoring the rest of the playerbase. It's a BASE for a reason you frigging retards. They make so many rules to keep players back instead of making rules to stop people from being abused, its no wonder it's gone to shite. They change the skills to nerf people but give out things to their friends so they can maintain their superiority.
What kills me is that at one time, my shit character had so much sid that he could probably buy a merchant house all to himself. I paid off guards 1 large at a time to look the other way, I bribed sergeants and anyone I could find many multiples their salary and ran a larcenous campaign to end all campaigns. They abused their authority to take items from my inventory, when I complained, they said that the pickpocket was soooo good that they were able to relieve me of my items though I did not stand still outside and remove my item from my triple stacked container for more than a second. You would think that such activity would be rewarded, instead it was ignored, they spawned drov beetles to kill me in the waste out of nowhere, I can't stop laughing about it. Fuck em all

Aromit has resigned, adding to the pile of dead staffers.
I liked Aromit, even if he was a little bit of a cheat here and there.

Aromit is the latest example of the Armageddon staff tradition of being able to resign voluntarily after cheating.
