People are always going to complain about something. I honestly don't even know who Malifaxis/Shaloonsh is.
Also I will say that I've been playing recently and haven't had any problems so far. Not saying the game is perfect but it is a far cry from what I experienced in my early days. I'm sure there are still staff avatars out there but I haven't been able to see anything glaringly unfair or corrupt, and my interactions with staff have been cordial. Maybe I will put in for the next staffing round and become the most epic story of redemption Arm has ever seen.

For the record:
I've had a couple of negative experiences with Shaloonsh within the last year that made me scratch my head and go "there's something wrong with this guy"... which made me reflect on all the info posted here about him and think that there's likely a grain of truth to a lot of it. He's definitely passionate about the game, a decent writer and more creative than the average staffer, but he seems to be a sick bastard that I don't care to have watching me play and having the ability to manipulate my character and the game world however he sees fit.
I've seen good and bad from staff within the last two years. More positive than negative but that's not saying much. With that being said, I've been playing and having fun. There is action to be had if you have some initiative.

I wouldnt mind reading a single one that wasnt obviously doctored. what about the request tool and checking for formally filed complaints? or are you saying here that in the 15+ years he's been around there hasn't been a single complaint ever put in about the guy who you admit tries to be v. caustic?
There really isnt a way to target a complaint. I would literally need to read every single complaint, deduce somehow that it's about loonsh. Which is difficult to do, unless the conversation calls him by name, since the complaint rarely name a staffer by name.
It is technically possible, but in every civilized society the accuser must prove the guilt, not the innocent prove their innocence. You wanna talk shit? Back it up.

Why not? They took Shalooonsh for some reason, after all of those allegations levied against him. Nessalin hates me. I dont know the other staff that are higher up but that is my reason for why. We had a lot of conflict when I was playing early on. |

lmao for decades, staff has worked their asses off to suppress players communicating and sharing information on issues like this. you guys scour the internet and punish anyone who talks about it. 'trust us, we'll take care of it!' now your fat ass is sitting on top of a mountain of complaints that you're too lazy to bother looking through and you want to hem and haw about the burden of proof, when the proof is archived on your server that you exclusively have access to and are unwilling to look through or share. i've said it before and i'll say it again. qwerty is the kind of piece of shit that would have covered up for sandusky or larry nassar. when you wonder how these guys got away with it for so long, remember that there were always pieces of garbage like qwerty that circled the wagons around them and defended them to the death. |

Yeah but even I'm defending staff though.. I've had some pretty good experiences these past few weeks playing so why so much vitriol directed toward them?  I wish people could all just get along sometimes. |

A few weeks of good experience doesn't erase years of abuses. Many of the staff responsible for those abuses are still on staff.
That being said I don't think staff should be hated, because in the end, this is a silly, average RP game with a high rate of self-insert characters. but people should certainly be wary of the staff if they're going to choose to enjoy Armageddon instead of the handful of other RP games with similar-sized or larger-sized populations and better player/staff relations.

I wish people could all just get along sometimes. i've posted about this a few hundred times so i'm just going to quote myself here. *asshole old staffer a gets kicked off* players: staffer a sucked, he screwed us over, why should we trust you guys? staffer b: we're different, we're moving in a positive direction, we don't do shit like that anymore. <----we are right here*staffer b voluntarily leaves staff after years of player complaints and doing things they said never happened* you get two types of players left over-- the in-denial abused wife: he said he's gonna change, it's different this time (boopsie)and the new girlfriend: things weren't that bad, all his ex's just made it up or were asking for it and if it does happen i deserved it. |

It goes both ways. Staff are assholes, have done terrible shit to people. Same goes for the players. You think a lot of what I had happen to me wasn't deserved? I guess deserve doesn't matter but I was a pretty terrible piece of shit myself and attacked the staff/game many times if I felt wronged or my pride was hurt. My ego was huge.
So I guess what you can also have veteran players that come back to try and the game and see if they can have fun again. The moment it stops being fun I will probably walk away without making much fuss, it's not that serious.
And you also can have new players. I am teaching my wife to play Arm right now and some of the stuff she does is hilarious. Seeing new players learn the game is a treat for me, I really enjoy fostering people to enjoy a game I once had a real passion for.
