As a mortal, Malifaxis was the singularly most toxic, despicable person in the community. He was so vile and hostile that I can never trust him as staff. There's something fundamentally wrong with that human being.

I only really ever experienced Malifax as Sinjinn who I actually liked in my early time on Armageddon. It wasn't until much later that the city elf that wielded power to meddle with Noble Houses rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't that it happened it's that it continued for so long and despite his missteps he never seemed to get a true punishment. Also he got the most dubious rez I had ever seen. That being said, I'm not sure I would mark him as a bad -person- even if he did call me a creature of low cunning.
He is at the very least a compelling writer and has the confidence to lead a 'plot' or player project. I didn't know at the time he was former staff.

He was the kind of player who would tell others to quit the game, send unsolicited PMs (and later, as staff, e-mails) to female players, constantly attack and abuse male players that he viewed as competition in that regard, and other shit like publically outing the characters of GDB users. He was pure scum, but I haven't had anything to do with him in recent years so I don't know if he mellowed out from age.

Malifaxis/Shalooonsh has been on and off staff, so his poor behavior has been interspersed with his stints on staff. To answer your question, they made him staff repeatedly while he exhibited this behavior. I would wager he followed my staff guide before I wrote it. If anyone who has ever been on staff is likely to be a sociopath, it would be him. |

Can you link to "any" of that in any way at all?

What am I supposed to link to, the e-mails he sent to women? I've seen examples of them but I didn't save them for posterity in case some idiot one day demanded evidence. Sometimes you make it really hard to believe you're anything other than someone sent here to do damage control for staff. Listen to yourself, for fuck sake. We're talking about things that happened sometimes 10+ years ago.

Not to mention GDB posts that have been lost to time due to the website switch, the GDB changeover, and moderation actions.
Yet where there's smoke, there's a fire. Many people have independently said the same thing about Malifaxis/Shalooonsh's behavior. Yet staff continues to take him on and accept him on staff, despite the security risk he presents to the players. There have been staff that opposed the idea of him being able to be a predator on the players from above, but they're long gone now.

@qwerty could pretty easily check the request tool for complaints about shalooonsh regarding these things and show evidence that there hasn't been official complaints.
there's been a good number of complaints though: here, on reddit, and on themudconnector. i'm not going to dredge up his personal history and relationships but there's been complaints with respect to that as well. This whole thing is reminiscent of the revolt against Bhaghavra/Halaster/Nyr/Nergal/every other shitty imm: multiple players make complaints for years, get ignored or the behavior gets excused by the typical apologists, and then the person finally gets removed and all the bullshit gets confirmed follow by a 'hey guys we're different now also i never liked that guy' spiel.

Well. That's the thing. There's been complaints on reddit/mudconnector. Fake ones. That person ended up pretty obvious they're lying after they began to claim requests got 'dissapeared' and doctoring request responses, but from people who could not mechanically respond to those requests, etc. So yeah. Complaints happened, but they were BS. I wouldnt mind reading a single one that wasnt obviously doctored.
Don't get me wrong. Malifaxis is pretty acerbic. Or at least he pretends to be. For whatever reason he took upon a persona on GDB that is closely related to Red Fangs. For whatever reason. But more like a homeless dude who swears a lot, or Rick from rick and morty. The moment the conversation gets actually constructive and serious, he'll either post normally, or refrain from posting at all.

I wouldnt mind reading a single one that wasnt obviously doctored. what about the request tool and checking for formally filed complaints? or are you saying here that in the 15+ years he's been around there hasn't been a single complaint ever put in about the guy who you admit tries to be v. caustic? |
