Are you fucking kidding me? They told you to stop because it might lead to PC's getting killed (not to mention a bunch of roleplay on each side and who knows..maybe an actual war)? God forbid!
I quit after staff interactions such as this gem:
A staff member sends:
"My screen must be broke. I didn't see any wishing before you killed that last person."
You send this message to the staff:
"I wished up about summoning her maybe 10 minutes ago. Figured I'd already have immortals watching."
A staff member sends:
"Summoning isn't the same as killing. Please don't assume. You need to wish up before you whack someone."
You send this message to the staff:
"if that wasn't the case, I'm sorry."
A staff member sends:
"I realize that you can't alway know beforehand. That being said, I'd like to see a report. I'm very concerned with your recent kill rate."
You send this message to the staff:
"I haven't killed a PC since 8/13, that I'm aware of."
(this happened like september 12th)
You send this message to the staff:
"But I always send a report when I do pkill. One will be coming."
You send this message to the staff:
"<redacted> was the last PC I directly killed, and I sent in a report about that on 8/13. I've never been informed I have a maximum number of PC's I can kill
in a certain duration, nor did I think one or so a month was excessive."
A staff member sends:
"Heh. The next time you don't wish up before killing someone this will be a very different conversation. "
You send this message to the staff:
"What staff is this please?"
A staff member sends:
"Nechomacus"
This was on a character that averaged LESS than one pkill a month. And with this particular pkill, I gave that character about 10 chances for it NOT to end in death. In fact, someone else showed up halfway through the encounter and lived without so much as a scratch.
I had 7 karma at one point and at no point did I feel LESS trusted by staff than with this particular character. I was ultimately barred from "interacting with any PC's anywhere near Tuluk without wishing up AND receiving permission ahead of time". I get docked karma for "lack of communication" (I sent in a report any time I did anything that warranted it). It puts me below the karma limit for the character I'm currently playing - but I'm being told they're graciously not force storing my character. I respond and say I'm taking an indefinite break from the mud and within minutes Adhira has force stored my character and it's stated that since I declined to show them during my "probationary period" with this character I no longer had the karma for (first I had ever heard I was in a probationary period) that I'm deserving enough to keep my character - they were taking her away from me.
I was helping drive plots. I had a lot of fun things going on. I was helping to supply the game with a villain. But ultimately I wasn't doing it within the confines of staff's little sandbox and I wasn't staff's little pet.
Fucking ridiculous. Staff's job should be to set up the world then have it react and evolve around the actions of the characters. Not force it to remain stagnant and fit into their little sandbox.
