Armageddon Staff's Rejection of Shadowboard Players

Good integrity move on adhiras part. Part of me wonders if she didn't already know you were banned and did this in response to the sheer number of players opposing it. Remember, however much you discredit current imms and their lack of intellect, they're sharp enough to realize the game was headed in a very bad direction just a few short months ago and they're probably none too eager to return to those days.

I got a chuckle when valeria said remember nyr? Felt like she was openly pointing out the giant eyesore of an imm he was.

as you would expect, i'm cynical. i don't particularly see a reason to be thanking a benevolent staff for falsely banning someone, then quickly reversing it when they start to look bad about it because it was disseminated to the GDB. it creates that weird combo of Stockholm syndrome and deity worship that the GDB showed in the discussion thread, where people are singing praises to a Mighty and Righteous Staff, who hath shown their kindness and mercy towards people posting on an offsite forum. Truly their patience is a marvel to be hold, for they tolerate the existence of such a blasphemy which they may smite at any moment!

at the end of the day it's a video game. if you're ok with staff running it having draconian rules towards what you can and can't talk about on places on the internet then that's fine but at least have the awareness to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's petty, controlling, and fucking weird.

i've enjoyed the events of the last few days and i feel like i've learned a lot. not for the content itself, but for just being a case study in human psychology. there's been multiple posts of people hoping people here get raped, curbstomped, dehumanizing them, and stereotyping while ignoring that much of the same people who post here also post on the GDB. people have managed to ignore or sweep any critical analysis of the staff under the rug -- why were they saving all this information? why didn't they bother trying to contact myself at any point to mediate the damage? but none of those things matter. what does matter is that the evil kingdom of the shadowboards, headed by President Jcarter, infringed about their territory and their faithful leaders will guide them through these troubled times. it's easy for me to take into context now when i read history to understand how people were willing to go to war over stupid things like border disputes. and i mistakenly thought that people were above this sort of thing, but they're not, and the topic of offense as well as the truth behind it doesn't matter one bit.

Good news: mistake admitted. It seems that disagreeing and offering stiff, thoughtful criticism is not a ban-worthy offense. Not even in conjunction with posting undisguised on this forum. At least those are not for RRR. That was Adhira's official stance day before yesterday at least.





Bad news: At least one member of staff who had access to the ban-button believed that criticism and/or use of this forum WERE ban-able offenses and they pulled the trigger, unchecked. Their decision stood in place with the full authority of the staff for a couple days. They also did not find it necessary to notify the player of the decision or to share the rational for the action. Not so good.





From all the posts, it looked like the wide majority of people knew RRR's ban was outrageous and inappropriate. Haters, suck-ups, by-standers, most everyone.  I'm glad that ArmageddonMud realized they were wrong and corrected themselves but I'm a bit miffed that everyone else could see it so easily at the time and they couldn't.
