Like, seriously, if you learn ONE thing about Red Storm, it's that PCs that stick around are OOCly important, and if a crew gets started, those are important too, to keep your RP experience from being, twink twink twink, sit bar, sigh boredly. ONE PC dies, it's a tragedy. You kill two to several all of Storm's PC population is going to pull together to fuck you to death. It's like I keep saying, man. RSV is the best spot in the game. You just can't always start there for your concept, but it's a great place to make your real home. Amen, brother!

RSV is fucking alone in its kind, powerful NPC crimcode, shady backstories, rejects the culture of the rest of the known world.

Arm pre-culture of limitation: ... Samos becomes a red robed templar. ... Arm during the culture of limitation: none of the above And you guys want your jade dusters and to say that's an accomplishment. You really were conditioned to be apathetic if that's the case. Samos was/is a Staff Member.

I have heard that Samos was absolutely NOT a staff member and that he was absolutely was. Both 100% certain. Either way, because he was a Templar at the End of the World times, it looked like he got treated very differently from any templar since.

As far as I knew he started out played by a regular player and after he became a Red his character was taken over by staff and became an NPC. If my sources are right then the answer is both. Was a fun character either way. Great interactions with him.

I'm fairly certain that Samos' player was not on staff when her PC became a red robe templar. I don't know if she's joined staff since. I can confirm with 100% certainty that Garrick's player was not on staff when his PC became a red robe, but after Garrick's death (one of the most hilarious on Arm of all time, IMO) he did join the staff for a brief while.

That's total fiction. The player was mortal. Samos was played by ale six, who also played Senior Lady Ceylara Borsail. If she ever joined staff, it was after Samos. Apparently she actually quit the game over disagreements with staff, but I don't know the details.

That's total fiction. The player was mortal. Samos was played by Alesix, who also played Senior Lady Ceylara Borsail. If she ever joined staff, it was after Samos. Apparently she actually quit the game over disagreements with staff, but I don't know the details. You're confirming exactly what I said. I'll break it down: Samos was played by a normal non-staff player, at least until Samos became a red-robe. (..."he started out played by a regular player") At some point after that, (..."after he became a red") to my knowledge, Samos ceased to be played by that player, and was turned into an NPC and played by someone on staff (..."was taken over by staff and became an NPC"). What you said was... Samos was played by a normal non-staff player (..."The player was mortal.") I'm saying that Samos was NPC'ed eventually and from what I heard Alesix no longer had control of the character at that point. It's not "total fiction." I might have heard wrong on the last part, but we agree 100% on the first.

Samos became a red-robe while the player had him, and she eventually stored and quit the game. Staff didn't "take over the character after he became a red-robe" or anything like that. I don't think he was even used actively as an NPC after the player left. If he's referenced as a vNPC, that's probably fairly standard with red-robes. I believe I heard Malenthis Jal mentioned a few times long after the character was stored. These templars didn't become staff characters, and Samos was a 100% mortal-played character during any time that Samos did anything of note.

Then my memory is faulty. I was pretty sure someone dusted him off and took him out after the player stopped playing him for a couple of "cameo appearances."

He might have briefly appeared on the senate floor or something, but Samos didn't go around interacting with players or do anything meaningful after the player quit.

I never implied otherwise. I just said he'd ultimately been turned into an NPC but that he started out totally player-played (as opposed to staff-played).
