This forum has been used for a lot thus far. Discussing stuff, revealing more code information, clearing up past incidents and such. However the most useful thing about this forum is that it is full of ARMers and it is not oppressively moderated. So it only stands to reason that we should post a thread about active staffers and player experience/opinions/recommendations. This way people can check the thread and see if the next character concept they want to play will have the right and good staff to back it up.... or have someone almost as bad as Nyr.

Why everyone be hatin on Nyr, whats he done that is so bad? He tries to hard to be nessalin and fails. Miserably. I'm partial to Shalooonsh and Onimantu, but that's just me. Bhagharva was horrible, but there were some pretty good ones. Sorry I couldn't be of much help about current staff.  |

I've never had a lot of direct interactions with Calavera but I have had a lot of discussions with people in her clans. From my request tool responses and stories from others she seems to be one of the most open minded and encouraging staffers around right now. Her love affair with grittiness and elves is well known and now that she's on the northern team (I think?) it's possible that Tuluk might actually see some more rougher tumble elements crop up besides the prissy Akai Sjir.
Don't really have any complaints about Calavera and I've never heard anyone complain about her either.

Maeve
6 - note 5 is average
All around an okay staffer. I've always kind of found Maeve to be a bit aloof and apathetic. Not really encouraging anything but not flatout shutting people down. I wouldn't think of Maeve as a member of my dream team staff but I wouldn't cry if they were assigned to my staff team either.

This staffer has been corrupted by the wiles of Nyr. Passive aggressiveness and mixed signals are in your future if you are in a clan with him. The one upside is that it appears he actually does animations so if you enjoy that kind of thing being under his watch could be fun for you.

She puts the time in. She gets requests resolved. She can even be nice. Does animations regularly from what I have heard from people in her clan. You will arrive at issues if you disagree with her ever. She's very dismissive of any feedback and with the recent (terrible) GMH document overhaul you're looking at somewhat of a bumpy ride. If you get Hishn on your team try and make things click because if they don't you will burnout, spiral, and slam into a mountain cliff with your PC.

Okay so this is kind of a tough one... Rathustra isn't perfect and probably doesn't deserve an 8 in a lot of peoples minds. If you have ever had Rathustra though I encourage you to go look at your old request tool responses from them and from whomever your current staff is. Odds are that Rahustra never insulted you, accused you, or did anything but ask some questions and thank you for reports. All in all they are an easy staffer to work with and you should be happy to get them on your team.

Have to ask, here, but why does everyone say Vanth is insane? I was going to type up a long post and link to a bunch of vanth's blog posts, but the domain wasn't renewed so all those great blog posts about how terrible men are have been lost to time. Vanth herself was the stereotype of the man-hating internet feminist; she had this blog where she made posts about how much of an advocate she was for sex workers and she was fighting the power on behalf of sex workers etc etc. The thing is, all her posts would ooze with this hatred towards white men. Like she put up this one post about how white men hated the idea of pimps and streetwalkers because it was a black man dominating a white women and white men would get all worked up into a tizzy because of racism, completely ignoring the abusiveness of the situation and mixture of drugs and all kinds of nastiness. One post she put up started with "white men are the most frequent users of sex workers and the most opposed to it" then two lines later say "I don't have the numbers or statistics offhand to show that, but it matches up with the sex workers I've talked to." She would also try to argue about how sex trafficking was made up and blown out of proportion, and that underage girls engaged in sex work and trafficking actually wanted to be there. It was really crazy stuff and it just reeked of picking whatever position would try to make white men look the worst. She even wrote a book which I'm not going to name or link to because I don't want her getting a penny from this site. It was about a sex worker and from the preview pages of it I read on Amazon it just completely white-washed everything. The sex worker was of course a high-class escort that didn't do drugs and rarely drank beyond a glass of high-price wine, had an iphone and a high-priced lawyer etc. The antagonist as far as I know was, you guessed it, a white man. It read like one of those shitty pulp fiction novels from the 1950s that was just escapist material for the author. After I read her blog a bit more though ittgot to be really sad because there was one post where she talked about how she was supposedly raped by someone taking advantage of her when she was like 16 and shit-faced at a party. I got the impression from reading everything that it really messed her up and her whole schtick about white men being literally worse than hitler and how women were totally in control and white men didn't like it because it was women being empowered was just her way of dealing and trying to work through the issue. Creating an imaginary Evil White Man and being part of a radical resistance against him via sex worker advocacy (i don't think she did anything beyond making blog posts) was her way of convincing herself she had some kind of control over her own life. I don't know who or why anyone thought it would be a good idea to give someone like that an iota of power but like many Arm staffers I think she was drawn more to being in charge of her postage stamp-sized slice of internet fiefdom than having a good time. |

Could care less about this but.. met Vanth at DragonCon 02 I think? He was still a guy at that time. Pretty quiet and shy for the most part. Next year it was 'she' so he got the sex change and all that. More power to him though I could care less like I said. Just adding in some more facts.

It can be for all staff, though I was thinking of it more as a guide to picking which staff you might want to play your next character concept under. But whatever, no rules.

I think you're thinking of Varak or Samoa who later became Zhaira on staff and then resigned after he gave Ender a golden shower on webcam at one of the Dragoncon. I think it was him giving it to Ender but maybe I've got it backwards and Ender gave him one or it was someone else besides Ender, I don't really recall the specifics and tbh I'm a happier person that way. |
