Message 43: [Mon Nov 2 23:45:07 2015] Slay the Beasts, Storm the Gates



The Jade Sabers were sighted just one week past repelling an assault on the

Western Gates under the command of the heretofore unsung Lord Templar

Balthazar Kasix. Hunters and traders of all stripes are feeling the

strain created by the creatures responsible -- spider-like poisonous beasts

known as ghyrrak, a foe no one seems to have encountered within living

memory before the past year. Many have quietly expressed their curiosity

about what the militia intends to do about them.



The town gossips have determined that the ghyrrak are roosting in an

abandoned Tor fortress, north of town, flying and climbing in and out

of its crumbling confines. Kadius supposedly lost key personnel to their

predations, as has the House of Rennik.



Word has also gone out about the increased visibility of Tor's Scorpions

about the city, sighted more than once deploying outside

the walls 'on maneuvers.' It seems that they have been chosen, along

with the Seventh Infantry of the Jade Sabers, to eradicate the many-legged

menace. The call has now gone out explicitly for a general muster of

forces, including not only military units but mercenaries of the T'Zai

Byn, with talk of even some kind of gemmed or mercantile auxiliary force.




The Sabers have made it clear that all patriotic citizens who wish to

contribute to the fight will be allowed the opportunity for combat.

Irregulars and hunters who intend to join the struggle are welcome --

though the ghyrrak can be a fierce foe, the word is that less

experienced fighters will likely be assigned to the back lines, baggage

train, or medical station expected to be erected in the field. Such

volunteers will be obligated to provide their own equipment. The

opportunities for glory and the good regard of the templarate are real.



Volunteers and latecomers will be expected to muster at the East Gate

of Allanak, where they will be met by the forces of the Highlord and

given further instructions. The date is set a half-month from now.
