Rath was admin of the northern staff team during the closure of tuluk which, as mentioned in the Delirium thread, was actually handled pretty nicely, in terms of telling players and hand-holding them into new roles.
rath-nergal dungeon crawls are epic.
so so far: pretty good shit.

There was another minor one. Just something for mundane fighting clans to do. Something akin to periodic gith camp eradication plots for Kurac when Kurac's high on numbers.
Some templar when he was rallying everyone actually stated that, "No. Those spiders are not sorcerous demons, or psionic puppets, or creatures of drov, or any other dumb shit like that. They're just fucking 'insects' and we gotta go and stamp out this fucking infestation."

You know, I do wonder about the exact circumstances of Nyr's hiatus. Was he confronted by the other admins? Did he just decide that he'd had enough of the position? Did the criticism reach critical mass? I'm not so vain as to take credit for his departure, but since it did happen directly following my calling him out on the GDB and writing him a very blunt email, I'm curious what went on behind the iron curtain.

As am I. It would make reading the tea leaves of his possible return much easier if we knew under what circumstances he left in the first place.

Did the criticism reach critical mass? ... Did Fallout 4 come out and he needed a few months of alone time with it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Well out of pure uneducated speculation three possibilities arise in likeliness. A.) He left of his own will having realized he was hurting something he loved. b.) Forcibly pushed out but for appearances that made it sound like a hiatus c.)Something actually is going in RL for him and would not be able to continue his role as producer.
Time will tell?

i suspect RL causes. he's been taking flak for years and neither him nor staff seemed to care, i doubt this had much if anything to do with it.

I agree with Desertman on this: if the game demonstrably improves very quickly following Nyr's absence (player numbers, rankings on TMC and TMS, and general player satisfaction) it would be compelling evidence that he was a negative influence.
It would be very hard to retake the reins if all the data shows it would be a detriment to the health of the game.
He might have to change his name. And probably start at the bottom and work under other staff. Hrmm.

More players will make doing this easier for staff however if nothing really changes. If returning players players notice a lack of improvement and lose interest, it'll be more difficult to get them back again.
