But it seems to me, Bitterflashback (and believe me, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, I put you in the interesting people's worthwhile opinion camp) that no matter what Nyr is trying to do -today- and in the future, that it will never be enough at this point. So if I were him, why even bother, if I read stuff like this? Might as well stick to my old ways, or at the very least, not even bother trying to better myself, because nobody seems to notice it or even care about it. Aside from a, er, "parley", what would you think he should be doing to show the current players and the GDB (because I still don't think that he has any need or business showing up here), that he's really trying to improve his player-to-staff relationship? All right, putting aside what I think of the argument that Nyr might think twice about changing his stripes because he saw a poll, I'll answer your question. I think there's a certain point where a reputation can't be salvaged. The best thing he could do that I believe he'd be willing to do is to step down from all decision-making powers and spend the rest of his staff time doing busywork. Specifically the kind that keeps him away from players, plotlines, and karma. At least then people wouldn't have to worry so much about him. |

But maybe that's just what he's been doing lately? Like someone said, he rarely posts anymore and when he does it's to be helpful or "joke" along other GDBers, and he probably is just happy overseeing the whole game.. Maybe there's a point in your Arm career, like Nessalin's, where you are just happy sitting back and watching your little ants do what little ants do and stepping in once in a while to make sure that they don't start eating one another or destroy the whole anthill? |

I had to quit out of Armageddon because this is like watching a trainwreck in progress. ... well you heard it from Malken: JCarter Shadow Cheater Boards > Armageddon MUD (still playing catch-up on this thread) Maybe there's a point in your Arm career, like Nessalin's, where you are just happy sitting back and watching your little ants do what little ants do and stepping in once in a while to make sure that they don't start eating one another or destroy the whole anthill? Yeah, but 2 out of the game's 3 taglines involve eating one another, and the other one is about destroying the whole anthill. Mostly I think Nyr's been gone because he's recovering from the massive climax he got from shutting down a massive piece of the game that pre-dates his tenure. The guy has a huge chip on his shoulder about being a late-comer. |

Finally caught up. Wow, that's kind of depressing. Did you miss the lightshow too? Meh, we all want to rage out every now and then. He's probably had a bit too much caffeine or something. I like to imagine he's got a great big smile on his face, and is doing a bit and half-joking. Go stick some no doze up your ass and fuck off. Is this a "thing" people actually do?!? I really hope it's just an insult. That seems like a particularly awful way to get high. |

I'm pretty sure there was not even a lightshow, but I don't know, jeshin seems more up to date on the game than I am, to be honest. Like I said in a previous post somewhere, I mostly just play "fuck around" type of characters these days, when I feel like it, I pop in, pop out, business done. |

I didn't vote and will try to explain why.
What I'd like to see is a return to when characters were more able to affect the world. And I'd dearly love to see something like a mason guild that could construct actual, permanent buildings of various sorts over time, and repair damaged or decrepit ones. Never understood why people are so resistant to the idea of players controlling or owning buildings over their own. Do they really like the same street descriptions and shops, year after year after year? It's like reading the same book over and over.
I hoped the new builder position would be positive, but they've signed up previous Storytellers. I understand that Eukylade is an admired Storyteller, but if they didn't really build much before, why would they do it now? Hope has faded.
Anyhow, it's not clear to me who would need to be replaced to break the staff's dislike of constructive initiatives. Maybe everyone above storyteller rank. After all, they pick people they want to work with. I doubt that includes those who would continually agitate for some new project.
