i don't think nyr's insane. i just think it's the stereotypical guy who is king of his internet mountain and loses touch. what he did to receive it and why would Nyr feel like all the accounts related to him should be terminated. whatever it is, it's somewhere on these boards. i haven't removed any threads, so feel free to go looking for whatever you think it is. all the important and juicy things got carried over from the lefora board to here. honestly I can't think of anything posted here so heinous that i would threaten to ban someone and people associated with them. |

malken why do you keep being obtuse about this and turning it into a strawman? no one is saying nyr is threatening the person's wife in the context of physical threats or violence. when someone says nyr threatened his wife they're clearly talking about it in the context of threatening his wife's account privileges. I'm not trying to be obtuse about it, I just feel like it's so over the top that there is definitely something going on with whoever Nyr thought he was targeting (which again, it's not jazet and his wife). We don't know what that guy did and how many accounts he had. I'm trying to come up with a realistic reason as to why such an email would be sent OTHER than Nyr is just plain insane, yes? If Nyr is just plain insane, then I've got nothing and you guys are certainly right to be flipping about this. But I want more context to that email (not from jazen because he's not the target, so there's no context from him, he just randomly received some weird threatening email from Nyr out of nowhere). I'd like to know who it was supposed to be sent to, who that guy was, what he did to receive it and why would Nyr feel like all the accounts related to him should be terminated. Why do you have to turn everything into an extreme red herring? No one is saying Nyr is insane. In many ways, he's the hardest worker on staff, and is probably an intelligent enough guy (being the alpha nerd he is). Leaving aside that much of his hard work is self-made busy work to perpetuate an inefficient bureaucracy, and not like making the world come alive for people, but whatevs. That's a different thread. But he has an extremely insecure, bullying personality, as evidenced by the dozens of anecdotes on this board (and screenshots of emails received as proof). He's not some sphinx-like cipher, that requires nuance and detail to understand. If you have any experience at all in the real world, then you can spot people like this from a league away. There's nothing mysterious at all about his actions. It was impetuous, unprofessional and dickish. He didn't even make sure he had the right guy first, and then he threatened the wrong guy's wife. And I don't mean OMYGAWD he said he physically threatened his wife as if he were some psychopath, you nitwit. I mean he threatened her account. People like you, caught having to defend an untenable position, will always try to redefine the opposing argument as something incredible and extreme, so as to give them any room to maneuver at all. Well no one is saying Nyr is insane. We are saying he's a bully. Do you comprehend that? |

A direct correlation with how acceptable people think Nyr's behavior is, can probably be measured against their own inexperience in any real life professional situation. Or some kind of weird detachment from reality, where being the grand poobah of a small mud means you have a right to bully others to make yourself feel good. (Because let's face it, if Nyr tried to bully anyone in real life, they'd probably pin him down and fuck him in the ass). Yeah i don't really know how to phrase this in a non-insulting way, but i honestly wonder what kind of lives people have that think there's nothing silly or over-the-top about this about the authoritarian formality that goes into a hobbyist video game. i have a quote from nyr somewhere in nyr's greatest hits where he walks into a thread and basically goes 'wow, i can't believe this was posted in a thread that an administrator is posting in!'. it's just so over-the-top, you can't even make this shit up. malkeninthemiddle said that ripping on nyr "is a huge part of this forum's purpose". it is, but not because Nyr. it's because this is a documentation of the sheer absurdity that happens, and Nyr produces a lot of stupid things that get put out here. i have no problem lampooning or ripping on any other imm if they throw out dumb things. nyr just happens to be the fool that puts out the most content. |

The issue, for me, is how it made me and my wife both feel. Now, years later, I can look back at it and shake my head and chuckle because it was stupid and I hadn't done anything. It is certainly obnoxious that it was so knee-jerk, and it's outright rude that they would decide to bring my wife into it, despite the fact that she was, recognized by staff, as an entirely different player.
But the fact remains, the staff has done the following to her, because she's guilty by association:
1. Removed 5 karma points off her account because of one incident that Nyr instantly did a karma review on. I'll give details on that, again, if necessary.
2. Denied her leadership roles with the exact same word for word email that Nessalin sent me, despite the fact that we're two different players (again), because she's had bad relations with staff. (which was me)
3. Threatened to ban her account, by Nyr, because of some sudden urge to ban MY account, in mistake, yes, because...I have no idea why?
That's just three things they have done to a veteran player who is only guilty of ever really coming back to play, because I asked her to.
Ask me sometime about her Kuraci loyalist who was lifesworn Kuraci, working directly for senior Kuraci family was hunted down by an npc outrider (who was ranked under my pc at the time, who was mated to her) and killed. There's story there too.
It's just poorly handled and malicious behavior from the highest ranks of staff.

Staff are all praising him as we speak, players are praising him as we speak, the number of players online have been in the 70+ for the last month. I'm not saying that some of you are not right, heck, you all seem to forget that I called him an asshole on the GDB not even three months ago, but we talked things through like adults and moved on. I guess I just have no idea what you guys are trying to achieve.. Pulling one player out at a time? Trying to topple Nyr's Highlordship over? Trying to make him realize that he did some stupid shit a couple of years ago and trying to better himself? (I'm convinced he's already doing that - So what's the point of sticking a crazy out of context email he sent 2-3 years ago, think that'll make him want to keep trying to be nicer?) so what do you guys want if you're not going to post this on the GDB and ask questions? |

I'm disgusted that none of the other senior staff (Adhira, Nessalin, Morgenes) have saw fit to address it or remove him from his position. i think adhira, morgenes, and nessalin are shitty human beings for continuing to remain on staff and leave Nyr in an authority position while this kind of thing goes on. way to fucking go, staff of Armageddon MUD, you volunteers are doing a bang-up job. I dunno.
I can kinda see both sides of this.
Staff have admitted to being unnecessarily terse and have claimed to be working on that within the past couple of years.
I can also understand banning someone really close to an offender breaking (what they thought at the time) some of the more sacred rules of the game, wife or not. If you come to an niche online game and expect a business-tier air of professionalism, you're gonna have a bad, -bad- time of things.
That's all I've really got to say on that particular matter. Dick move, yeah, but that might be more tone than anything.
The 5-karma dock over one incident is absolute bullshit though-- as well as the denial of leadership roles.
