i'm still in awe and repulsed by Nyr threatening people's wives to get his way. this is a single instance that we even know of, I wonder how much goes on that we don't. I'm disgusted that none of the other senior staff (Adhira, Nessalin, Morgenes) have saw fit to address it or remove him from his position. For a long time I considered my problems with Nyr to be in the context of Armageddon, and I even censored a few things here that people put up because i felt like they were over the line.
at this point though I feel pretty confident in saying that I despise Nyr as a human being and think he's human garbage. i think adhira, morgenes, and nessalin are shitty human beings for continuing to remain on staff and leave Nyr in an authority position while this kind of thing goes on. way to fucking go, staff of Armageddon MUD, you volunteers are doing a bang-up job.

I agree that the other producers are culpable for letting Nyr cause so much damage just because he does their busy work for them.

I... I refuse to believe this is real. Screenshots of email pls? I mean sweet Jesus Christ, this is fucked up beyond all measure. Context too please, there HAS to be more to it than that. I'm literally taking this to the GDB for a public staff response if this is true, for their side of things.

Their response will be 1 of 2 things...
1) We don't discuss request tool responses on the forums.
2) This was sent to the wrong person. (ignoring that it being sent to anyone would be inappropriate)

It also reflects even more poorly on them if they deny answering it, it demonstrates their unwillingness to engage in any form of dialogue. For their own PR purposes the very best thing they could do is apologise IF this is indeed true. I'm going to take this with a grain of salt for now as no context is provided with evidence, I refuse to believe someone would make such an absolutely messed up threat.

Clegane was such a beast RPer. I wish he would come post here. He had beef with Sanvean back then if no one knows the story I will tell it someday. He told us at the APM. I wish he would come here, too. I think there may be some things here that he disagrees with, but I mean, he had his rows with staff - big ones - before we were even around, Del, and I'm sure he could provide some insight. It was be great to have a written, firsthand account of how he kept Allanak from being destroyed while simultaneously being blackballed for it, well, I guess indefinitely for it. As far as stories about going against the staff grain go, it is definitely a tale of epic proportions that DID change the game forever... perhaps for the better, but that is really hard to say. |

My friend, it's really commendable that you've got side wide-eyed hope that such things don't actually happen, but they do happen. They have happened for years. Decades even in some instances. I've had much and more done to me directly, I've heard of more that just annoy me that has happened to others. There are so many people out there who are afraid to even use their normal handles on this board or to talk back on the GDB because they are terrified they will be punished somehow in game or with their accounts. And yes, they will absolutely punish your account at a whim. Like I related earlier, my wife had been playing since 1998 and had her karma stripped by 5 points because of one incident, zero warning, just an instant Nyr karma review. These things are not new and they do happen. And nothing will change, because they have no need to change, because people will still log in there and play it safe and try to not offend the staff or catch their attention. If nothing else, I'm glad you're reading these posts and seeing these things have happened to others before they happen to you, because now you can be guarded in your interactions. |

The context is...I was roleplaying a zero karma role at the time with my wife and was guilty only of being former staff and someone that they "watch". I was force stored, got that email from Nyr. A few minutes later, I got another email in reply saying basically "oops, wrong former staffer on our watch list." Thanks, Jcarter! You disrupted my afternoon of rp that day! Point of fact: If Nyr wants to grief you he needs no context or reason to do so. |
