I really enjoyed merchant/aggressor. Being able to pwn a bunch of warriors as a merchant is just, well, totally fucking priceless.
Unfortunately, they tend to catch up pretty quickly - even if you're at like 40 days played.

I'll still stand by Ranger/Slipknife over Ranger/Rogue.
Slipknife gets pick also (now that I think about it I don't know if Rogue gets a higher cap on it), and while backstab is kinda balls the two-handed sap ain't bad at all.
I mean.... If you ever fuck up hardcore and can't stealth away a room or two to pincushion someone. Mega situational.
Less situational than not-master steal imo, which will just get you in loads of trouble. Nice one Does Slipknife get pick? docs don't allude to it Also mid_steal, do we have a read on the cap of Slipknife steal? Assuming a mid level cap what will you not be able to to? No lifting weps but maybe small items from inv/containers? At any kind of consistency?

Backstab has always seemed crap to me on any guild but assassin. It's just one of those skills.
Sap can be made up for with huge strength and a double handed blunt weapon, AND a attack from hide bonus.

I loved merchant/ aggressor as well, and had the same 40d comparison issue with clanned warriors and rangers. There was only so long I could keep that pc ahead on strong equipment and consistent training. I was quite pleased with burglar / outdoorsman. Even with the power disparities in various guilds and subguilds, I think the whiran/outdoorsman, the krathi/outdoorsman, and the warrior/slipknife desert elf I saw Ig were much too powerful.

Balls to you warrior/slipknife delf would be fucking dangerous. Ugh. City/Desert sneak/hide on a warrior with backstab usable with the tridents that are stabbers?! It's one of them combinations made only in hell. Good thing they're not allowed more than fifteen squares in any direction and thus can never amount to anything...am I right?

Slipknife gets: Backstab Sap Throw Sneak Hide Poisoning Advanced backstab doesn't do enough to warrant it's obscene command lock out. By the time you're potent enough in combat to not be worried about it, you have much better damage dealing options than a poor mans assassin gimmick. If you poison and etwo a high damage spear, you will deliver much more damage with a relatively short command lock out. Slipknife sap isn't worth the time it takes to max, as you can achieve much better success with a reliable two-handed skill and a good maul. We're talking about rangers however, so you should use master archery and kill with amusing degrees of impunity. The basic sling is 'rinth safe and can be loaded with some very unusual ammunition types... especially if you're able to befriend certain elemental guilds.

I've often thought that slipknife is one of the most overrated subguilds, especially for a ranger. About the only class I could see it being interesting on is a gicker, for flavor. Slipknife is like a grab bag of all the great skills that really need to be mastered to be great. I would never take a warrior subguild for example, that didn't eventually let me no-hand ride.
