No staff animated NPC because it appears the Rinth players nearly squashed a plot or a pet or something of the sort.
It could of been just that they where having fun, so of course some sour ass staff would step in.

Don't even care about the reason. Blocking off the 'rinth is gamebreaking for the place, and it is after all one of the core starting locations and a sphere of its own with clans and shit. They would never lockdown Red Storm or something like that. Staff has always had this thing where they almost treat the players of 'rinthers as if they were second rate citizens like their characters. It's like the ultimate tragic immersion, treating players according to the social standing of their characters.
I don't know how they've blocked it off this time (though when the fuck did they add a door or whatever someone said?), but it's not the first time. Did they shut down the secret blockade place on the west side, too? Even if they didn't, it's fucked because that's a secret exit that new players won't know about and because it leads through the gemmed quarter which staff will eagerly give you bad notes for traversing without due cause.
Blockading the 'rinth is the ultimate FUCK YOU to players, the place cannot sustain roleplay on its own without access to the outside world. You can't even get some of the bare essentials in there, and as far as I remember, they made it so humans can't shop in the elven market anymore so humans literally cannot buy equipment in there.

As to my earlier question, since no one pm ed me, is this the entire story? That the entrance to the rinth is codedly blocked (and completely, since there is no such thing as climbing or using a rope or a ladder or your friend to pass a blockade, or navigate through rooftops in the world of zalanthas)

Apparently a group of pcs got too powerful and since there was not a REALISTIC IC way to handle it, staff decided to animate a red robe to iron curtain the rinth off because just like the Red Fangs back before they were closed, the underdog got enough knowledge/power/opportunity through IC means to fuck the status quo, and we can't have that unless it's part of some shit-tastic animation where whole clans are wiped out (LOL New New Tuluk)
It sucks, too, because from the brief overview I know of, it sounds like the sort of violent, gritty, awesome shit that Arm should thrive on that led to it, when boo hoo the side that staff thinks should have been winning didn't.

Btw, the rinth gets blockaded like every 3 rl months. Humans can still purchase goods from the eastern elven shops and the secret exit in the gemmed quarter is guarded by a few half-giant soldiers last I checked.

Not mine to tell, and not sure how revealing it would be of who played what where, but if the person who sent me the overview tells me I can post something of it here for you guys, I will. More or less, a clan decided to fuck with what amounted to nobodies, and those nobodies cut 'em the fuck up, staff gets butthurt that they succeeded and animate a red robe to keep the rest of the clan from dying.

Personally if I was a merchant who made body bags and body bag accessories I'd be pissed.

Humans can still purchase goods from the eastern elven shops Only one of them, but now that I think of it, it's probably the one that buys armor and weapons. It's been a while.

Just how would anyone even wall off the 'rinth in the first place? 'rinthers are not animals. What keeps them from digging a hole in a building on the border, hopping over roofs, or even hacking into the wall in the first place?
