The pike mul seemed excessive to me. It was either sadistic and over the top, or loaded and statted by someone with no real idea of how sadistic and over the top lethal it was. Especially if they had it skilled up to doing 100+ damage in two hits to the arms/legs. And they wonder why combat PCs twink their skills... Or the message, if you want a long lived pc, avoid rpts. Which is funny.
I had a PC that died during that mess, and I avoided many of the runs and jobs because I didn't want to snuff my character out before they got good.
This one was the -one- time I thought, "Y'know, I can beat up just about everyone else in this crew, I can probably survive this run. I've been itching for some action and fun anyhow!"
Boy was I wrong.

So you had a char die during that, too? okay, considering how many players were posting on the shadow boards at the same time the Byn murder massacre happened, well, things are starting to make sense now. Obviously they indentified several you and targeted you during the course of this RPT. Or am I reaching here?

Even if it was true, you'd still be reaching.

Even if it was true, you'd still be reaching. Well i would rather be reaching than getting reach arounds for sycophantically spewing some majority viewpoint.

Obviously they indentified several you and targeted you during the course of this RPT. Or am I reaching here? So I'm going to assume that everyone who was posting here at the time they were in the Byn were also posting under their GDB name, on this forum, AND that their GDB name was also their Byn forum name? Or maybe Staff managed to identify everyone that posted here and connected them to who they were playing in the Byn at the time? Or Jcarter sold all of your IP addresses for his 8th karma and he's working for Staff undercover. Can you see how ridiculous it is that you're saying that Staff managed to connect those who were posting here (which 99% of them under different names) were identified to be shadow board forum users and killed them all in some pre-arranged Byn massacre to make it look legit?

I direct you to some points in the log such as this. A ruddy-brown mekillot attacks the compact, sinewy man.Take a look through the log and you'll see stuff like this. With no lag and little rhyme or reason. Some staffer was animated in the NPC using commands on weak PCs which instantly destroyed them. Let's take a moment to think about this since you're probably missing my point. If the Byn group had wandered up to a mekillot NPC with no staff online and attacked it they would have killed it with zero casualties, but the staff made the mekillot harder to kill by using lag-free kill commands to off the new PCs of the group. A good example why would the mekillot know to attack these specific characters? Funny how the mekillot never attacked Albie or the other PCs capable of taking the damage or actually defending against it at all, instead it just wtf pwned the newest members of the Byn at the time. If you don't see a problem with this then fuck it I'm done. Sorry, I have to take exception with this particular example. From the log, the mekillot ripped the shit out of Sefaj, Armali, Roland and Patchy, not just newbie Runners. It was tearing its way through everyone. My impression was that a staff member just tossed in it and let it fight on its own rather than animating it. But also that it was a super-charged mekillot. Apparently the group had previous taken down a mekillot (weeks earlier) with little difficulty. This one was a monster. So, if anything, the staff charged it up to do damage, then let it rip as it willed.

This is actually one of the reasons (it mustve been about a year ago) I asked on here do staff load up monsters and let them just go on players. I got no answer on that, but reading that log and seeing a staffer pretty much say thats what they do on the gdb pretty much confirms it for me. Im actually more pissed they dont do things like this more often. I like when they do it and emote and you emote back, somebody or something dies....good time had by all.

No. It wasn't just set loose. Those commands kill man, or kill <keyword> were inserted by someone. Monsters don't do that in the middle of combat, they can't they will automatically begin combat with the next character that specific message applies only to using 'kill' on something. Sorry buddy try again.

Sorry buddy try again. I don't really understand what you're trying to say.. Are you saying that "A ruddy-brown mekillot attacks the compact, sinewy man " is a message that is only seen when someone commands an NPC to attack and when it's done automatically by code it doesn't appear?

The ignorance of the code astounds me by veterans.
To get that message you have to use the kill command.. if the mekillot is being attacked by 15 Bynners it will get the message.. you are already fighting. Animals won't randomly attack people if they are already being attacked. The combat will automatically resume with the next person in line.

Basically, critters don't re-target mid combat unless their current target is dead.
The only times I've ever seen this was when staff were in control.
