So I read in a review on TMC that one player suggested if after a year, you don't have any karma and find that you've gone sideways with staff a few times, it's best to change your IP address and create a new account.
Has anyone had any luck with this?

Did you ask for account notes? Karma is tied in to those pretty often.

It will guarantee it will be a couple months before you get a karma, but one of the best things you can do to earn the first couple karma is making sure to think/feel/emote with some level of regularity, demonstrating you know the dynamics of the world and the social order in different cities, etc. Best of luck, whichever you choose.

Pass yourself off as a female player after changing your IP. You'll get karma if found capable of roleplay/consistency.
I'm not joking.

I've asked for account note before and they're not that great.
I always feel like I'm a decent roleplayer when around other players.
It's likely the times that I think I'm alone that I suck the big one and blow any cool points I may have earned around other players.

You don't necessarily earn "cool" points unless you're on the receiving end of kudos.
My advice: Stay with your account. Join a house like Kurac as a youngish man or woman (18-22) and rise through the ranks. Don't worry about stats, worry about relationships with others.
Allow your character to make mistakes. Be a bit of a fuck up (it's realistic, and fun). Most importantly, allow your character to grow into a three dimensional man or woman, complete with strengths and faults. Hell, you could even do a SWOT analysis to map out some character basics before letting the pc's experiences shape him/her.
Good luck, and have fun.

She was given a karma and had it taken away again, and that's all. As far as I know, she still doesn't have any karma, and has been playing for 4 years.

I'm willing to bet that for every female player out there with no karma there are two to three Bebops out there with 4-5 karma. Bebop -- last I checked -- had as much as 4-5 karma at one point. FOUR! She's even been allowed to play templars, with a capital 'S'.

For every bebop there is a voular with more than four karma, who also got allowed to play multiple templars. As of the time I was on staff, she had 2, and then got horrible account note for banging Sinjinn. Just... no, her and the female player I'm talking about are on equal footing as far as being hated. And, frankly? There are more male players in the 4-5 karma range than female players. Same with 7-8 karma.

And frankly, when female players get docked, it tends to be for wild sexual violation of the docs, vs males getting docked for abusive combative stuff. Which is funny, because male players don't seem to lose karma over it where females do in sexual stuff.

It's an observable pattern. Especially the things that get cleaned out of the account notes. I found a kudos from olgaris for a whore I played in Cenyr mudsexing his mul before I joined staff, as the last note on my account. >.>
He quit staff around the time I joined and got access to them.
Bebop went on to marry shalooonsh, and then they split, and shalooonsh still has 8 karma. bebop got docked 2 and got negative acct notes.
It was shit.

ArmageddonMUD hookups... most of the time they don't end well... I don't know why, but I'd guess it might have something to do with the murder, corruption, and betrayal. What ever happened to Dakurus? (Whatever happened to Blue Ferret and his lady?)
