I've gotta third this.... I'm not sure it's an exception, really. >_> well, if ur saying u give a shit about the who, what, how and why, then ur only arguing my point and supporting the rule, not the exception. if ur saying that u couldn't care less if you're walking around town with no npcs around and suddenly see the mantishead, regardless of whether you 'suspect' who or what entity was responsible, then the gameworld needs more exceptions like u. again, this whole thing wouldn't even be a discussion if players didn't constantly bitch about not getting some flashy warning 'emote' or 'say' before the kill - and players have been bitching about this for years. The way the game is now, a lot of people would run if you posed anything threatening or hit their aliases and be ready for you. You might as well go ahead and kill them and just use thinks and feels to cover yourself. It's bad enough people will just walk away from you after a pose. Imagine what they'll do if you posed coming at them with a murderous glint in your eye? |

No what it means is you were hyperbolic when you said nobody cares. The biggest complaint among my circle is stupid fucking deaths. im unsurprised to see strangers share my contempt for that part of the game. again, this whole thing wouldn't even be a discussion if players didn't constantly bitch about not getting some flashy warning 'emote' or 'say' before the kill - and players have been bitching about this for years. Again I was NOT encouraging flash. or any communication, really. Just don't be a twink. Don't do the whole "okay, so follow me into this apartment so i can spam commands and lock you in here and murder you with my NPC bodyguards who will jump in as soon as your character defends itself and you'll probably be at 70% by the time you're able to type a command" thing. Seriously. I think youre under-estimating people here. You paly Arm for a long time without being an immpet. And how a character you make dies becomes a bit more important. After enough stupid fucking deaths youll really appreciate it when you bring it on yourself. or if it's just not stupid. or not done with cheating or cheese. One of my characters got an ignoble death while unconscious. Every part of it made sense. A good chunk of it was my fault. and it was a character who Id successfully played for a couple years. it's also the only character of mine who didn't die to something stupid or typical (i.e. ubermob in the desert). So I didn't feel cheated for a change. |

Look, I'll throw out a proper emote when the situation warrants it. If I'm in a situation where the slightest hesitation can mean my death, you're damned right I would knife first and throw out a flashy emote later.
That's where thinks and feels come into play.
And yeah, Bitter, the whole "come to my apt" or an infamous shitmugging are both silly and poor form, but c'mon, let's be real here: anyone dumb enough to drink something they didn't purchase themselves or naive enough to follow a stranger into an apartment deserve to die.

At the same time, if you "are" doing the whole "come into my apt" thing. Do it properly? Dont be like. spam close/lock/put key away/close pack the moment your victim enters.

I'd be inclined to say no, don't do it at all. Instead, why don't you be a slimy little fuck and get them to invite you to THEIR apartment. Wouldn't that be so much more rewarding?

I've been command-spam-apartment-killed a few times, once by a player who knew better. I was lagged out because they had spammed back to their apartment, opened, entered, closed, and locked the door. By the time the lag had worn off I was mortally wounded and using some rather colorful language.
So, uh, yeah, you're right in saying that's lame.
