A good deal of people here still do, however. I think they're more talking to those people here.

Too bad there are only 3 people there, including myself.

It picks up a little later in the evening. 10 pm central to 6 am central seems to be a pretty high point in population with about 8-11 pcs around and 4-6 of them often in the Ryk. The p-base is small, but picking up. I'm personally trying to upvote the game on tms and tmc and there's been a fair amount of success with help from others in the pbase, to the point we're at 35 on tms after about a week of voting from being like 107, and have gone from 101 to about 86 on tmc last time I checked that.

Playing Black Sands as something you enjoy, doesn't require that you boycott Armageddon. Both have timesinks so I would make the argument that to really get involved with one involves playing the other substantially less. No one is trying to 'hurt' Armageddon or Nyr. Absolutely no one has said this, and the closest it's come to it is the OP talking about having Nyr removed from staff which no one else has discussed. Once you get over the assumptions that people here are permabanned rage-quitters frothing with anger and counting the ways to get their sweet sweet revenge on Nyr the situation becomes a whole lot clearer. edit: lol read through @ghaati post history and got curious, dude's IP address resolves to right nextdoor to where ginka was housed. hahahahahahaha.

Does that mean I'm Saikun?

Does that mean I'm Saikun? when you... - have an IP address resolves to the same location in middle of nowhere, CT that overlaps to the same area as someone listed on the registration information for armageddon.org
- reg with an Arm-themed gmail address
- have the antagonistic attitude that posters here are either 'rage-quitters' or banned players (which I guess is true in a catch-22 way of "you are a banned player if you post here because players who post here get banned"
- have access to information such as number of gith who were active in the pbase, how many accounts delerak had before nyr came on staff, etc
- have a number of posts that boil down to 'this is how staff would see/feel about it'
I start to smell a shill.

So what? Imms read these forums. Some of them participate in the discussion. Some take points, some dont. Their identity shouldnt invalidate their points. If they're right, they're right. If they're wrong, well then fuck ... they're wrong.

In that specific instance, I'd say he was wrong. Quitting is not the same as rage quitting, and the supposition that a ban will actually keep someone from playing when there are tens of thousands of accessible proxies that can be used is laughable. That said, I think it's just going to stand as another double-standard example of things like Rissa, Darcy, Kiven vs players in the same roles as opposed to staff, when players get banned and/or karma docked for posting but staff are taking part in the conversation. I'm fairly indifferent if someone wants to post here whether they are staff or not. Indifferent but of the very distinct opinion that banning people for posting here and doing it yourself is hypocritical as shit.

If they're wrong, well then fuck ... they're wrong. You're right, it doesn't which is why I responded to his arguments and have yet to hear back from him regarding the matter. Beyond that, I think it's in bad taste for Armageddon MUD staff members to come over here to take pot-shots at the userbase by declaring posters to be banned or 'rage-quit players'. This forum isn't a stomping ground for staff to anonymously take out their aggression on the playerbase. They already have the GDB for that and I'd be willing to bet at least one or two prominent trolls over there are staff alts. If being unable to throw down silly straw-men or criticize players without being punked out dissuades staff from posting here, well I guess these forums will just have to figure out some way to chug along with that monumental loss.

The person running this board has already played judge and jury and pronounced me staff, based on the "evidence" of having an IP address somewhere within a hundred miles of Saikun. This is an Arm-themed forum - and I'm being "accused" of registering with an Arm-themed gmail address. That's my arm-themed e-mail, of course it's the one I'd use here. I wouldn't use the e-mail address I use for work.
As for the rage-quitting and banned - it was regarding those specific people who were posting on the subject. They have all previously admitted to either rage-quitting, or being banned (or in your case, Anaiah, both). That includes the person who suggested the people boycott Arm. And the couple of posts agreeing with the idea. And the posts from people agreeing and suggesting to play Black Sands instead. Y'know, as a substitute, for when you're refusing to play a game you're either banned from, or rage-quit from anyway.
As for this:
I have no idea whose ass he pulled that out of. Where did he get the idea that I have access to that information?
and the next line about what staff would feel about things - I don't know where he got that from either. Maybe it's just his own paranoia setting in.
For the record: I'm not on staff of Armageddon, never was, probably wouldn't qualify to ever be. Apparently if people disagree with the powers that be -here- they are clearly "against" them. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Maybe it's JCarter who's the staff member on Arm. Because, he's behaving exactly like the people he's railing against.

Y'know, as a substitute, for when you're refusing to play a game you're either banned from, or rage-quit from anyway. Yeah, I ragequit. For a month. In 2009. I quit this last time not out of rage but because I frankly didn't enjoy the game anymore. And I'm going to use this as an example here: If you like coke (the drink), and then they change the formula and you don't like it anymore (new coke) so you decide to switch to pepsi instead, that is not to replace coke, that is to satisfy your want of a cola soft drink with something you don't dislike. It's not a substitute for coke, it is a preference of pepsi to NEW coke, it's deciding fuck coke and going for pepsi. If all that's not too convoluted to follow anyhow. I can play arm any time I want. I have a character even now which has never been played but created. I didn't ragequit, and I think everyone here knows what a joke a ban is in the face of proxies. Arm is no longer enjoyable, it's not someone who's pissed me off, it's a mass of experiences that have left me full of general apathy toward every part of the game that is not the community of other players.

As for this: I have no idea whose ass he pulled that out of. Where did he get the idea that I have access to that information? There were a few gith PCs in the last 2 years. They were hunted down and killed the first week of showing up. Was it even intended to be long-term? Not sure what it was all about but it wasn't even a blip in the "fun things radar." If that's how re-opening giths to players is going to turn out though, the staff wouldn't want to invest another moment in supporting it. Delerak was a problem player on three different accounts years before Nyr was ever a staff member. Nyr wasn't on staff until August 2007. There were a few gith PCs in the last 2 years. They were hunted down and killed the first week of showing up. Was it even intended to be long-term? Not sure what it was all about but it wasn't even a blip in the "fun things radar." If that's how re-opening giths to players is going to turn out though, the staff wouldn't want to invest another moment in supporting it.Too true. There's even a word attached to the gem that is not part of it's sdesc that allows it to be removed at any time. Of course, it sends the message to staff 'soandsopc removed gem <secret keyword>' so... it is kinda pointless to do it without staff onhand because the second they know what's happened, you're likely looking at a karma dock/storage. You know the staff reads these posts (you even addressed one to the staff). So, when you post things like this, you have to know that the staff is going to think "Did she just /tell/ everyone about this secret coded thing? Well - how about we just remove/change that word from the gem item's code." It's one thing to discover an exploit, keep it to yourself, use it on occasion, and stay under the radar. It's another thing to blast the news to an entire group of players who want to make copious use of exploits, and as a result of the mad dash for the exploit, cause the staff to say "Woah - that stops right now."I don't even know if this thing about the gem is true or if you're just making it up (you've posted several things that are flat out untrue on this forum). But if it's true, and if the staff who /does/ read this nerfs it so it can no longer happen, you'll know it's because you felt it necessary to broadcast it.Also remember that the numbers are parts of numeric ranges. You have no way of knowing exactly where you fall within a range. So sure, your skills list might say "Master" but are you at the very beginning of Master, and your other variables are making it difficult for you to get to the absolute max of the range? Or have you already achieved the highest that your character is capable of getting, OR - are they somewhere in the middle? With crafting, it can be -somewhat- determined. Some things might require the absolute max of Mastery in order to successfully create, and only if you are actually using the appropriate tools in the appropriate location. Some might only require that first initial bump up from Advanced. Notice I said might. Meaning - some things might not. It's not an absolute. It's determined by the actual code of the item, some of which are easy for non-coder-staffers to see and understand by way of flags and toggles, some of which might possibly be deeper in the code and not easily viewable/understandable by non-coder-staffers.
