Depends on the staff member. Some of the staff work their asses off and you can see the results if you're in their clans. There's been staffers who were on the list for a clan and I never had any communication with them ever and never saw their names on the weekly update list for resolving any requests or addressing any typos/bugs/ideas or posting on the clan board or anything else. From the player's perspective they didn't exist other than their name on a list. I don't think the staff "owes" players explanations for their existence but it'd go a long way toward mending fences if every staff member assigned to any clan would post once a month in their clan folder to at least let everyone know they're active and doing stuff with the clan. Even if they can't tell us what they're doing for IC reasons or whatever.

Can we split this tangent off into another thread? This particular thread is devoted to the wondrous things Nyr says. Your opinions about what he says are irrelevant; make a new thread if you want to debate/discuss.

Is it just me or is it getting really bad over there? Like...more than usual? Everyone seems to be getting more and more snarky with the staff and vice-versa. Its like there is this undercurrent of loathing seething through almost every post. Some people seem genuinely upset with how things are being run, they are generally ignored, debated, or subtly mocked. Even the apologists seem beyond bitter - they know the game they have to play to keep playing arm in good standing. Then you have the genuine sycophants, oy vey. And staff - well yeah, need I say more? The community seems really poisoned.

Nothing new. GDB has had dissent before, it'll get squashed, people will be banned or whatever. No one cares.

I think it's the natural progression of Arm. Play it, love it, after a certain period of time you become disenchanted by those who run things, you run off and do your own mud, fail miserably, go crawling back to Arm, then hate the staff later, quit for good. Something along those lines anyway.

They go hand in hand. It's no coincidence that this board is here now, not six years ago. It's a symptom of the same problem, and this board wouldn't be here if staff wasn't ruining the game for so many people that an entire shadow community grew from disenfranchised players. It'll take a lot longer to manifest on the GDB because of how totalitarian Nyr is with the forum and how players are punished for their posts, but it's starting to creep through there as well.
