The ban amnesty was misguided. Reconciliation doesn't work that way.

Oh I agree, it doesn't. We could call it halfhearted, or even disingenuous if we feel so inclined.
Unfortunately they've failed to address the real underlying problems.

Boards have been around for a year with zero response from staff. It's a wonder they still have a pbase to be honest.

ALL HAIL LULZ! GUARDIAN OF ON TOPIC! (I actually do appreciat this since it's my thread. ) Nothing new. GDB has had dissent before, it'll get squashed, people will be banned or whatever. No one cares. True, but I've never seen it from so many people at once before-- and from people who've been around for ages, at that. I do believe were seeing a tipping point. OR possibly critical mass of discontent. Arm runs the risk of eliminating enough of their old playerbase they'll be unable to sustain the game. even with the idiotic streamlinging Arm is a game with a harsh learning curve. A large part of that is from so much of the game's information being IC only in a world designed to kill anyone who hopes to do more than play miniquests for their water money. if they lose enough vets there will be no one to introduce most games to the good parts of Arm culture and that precious "learn IC" info. And as they drive away some of the people who have been around for years with staff stupidity and "streamlining", they also risk losing more vets who just can't find people they enjoy playing with. But how is this on-topic? If anythimg, i believe Nyr is becoming the face of Arm. All of this embarassing stupidity, abuse, pretense of intelligence, and so forth is being associated to the rest of the staff. Because hes so in the forefront and so prone to getting his (terrible) way. Is it unfair? To the STs it mostly is. to the rest of the staff, not so much, since theyre approving it or just letting it happen.

I'd said it before and I'll say it again: Tacit approval by enabling [insert whoever] to exert his/her influence.
Now get the fuck back on topic Bitter, you're derailing your own thread!

Boards have been around for a year with zero response from staff. It's a wonder they still have a pbase to be honest. not really. arm is one of a very, very small number of immersive systems in place. it is one of the longest running. it's system/code is 'unique' among RPIs in so much as I don't think any around now use DIKU. the setting and themes are unique. most people don't particularly care about the big picture issues and take the good with the bad. if there was 50 other RPIs out there with similar features i'd argue that point but otherwise i don't find it surprising. as far as response from staff, there has been a couple statements they've made in player staff meetings and a few imms have namedropped us on the GDB. for a while they lurked these boards and were tracking down player accounts to ban, which is the reason why I ended up making it completely open and viewable to everyone. i have never once been contacted by staff since I got banned from the GDB for filing a staff complaint over Nyr.

I don't think I've heard this story before. What exactly did you say in your complaint? (maybe you did tell me and I forgot)

Can only shake my head at that.
Where did the beef start, a cesspool of a political thread or something about the game?

I think it was a build up for jcarter not just one post or one thread.

Was it a permaban from the GDB, or did it only become permanent after you joined these boards?

got banned by nyr for "trolling" (disagreeing with RGS i think it was, lyl) on the gdb. i had also previously filed a staff complaint against nyr because i felt he was harassing me (e.g he dictating what was and wasn't trolling in a fashion similiar to jcarter's situation) my pc was stored because of this. waited like 30 days or some shit, got unbanned. ok, my pc is stored...ask pc to be unstored, morgenes says no, because i didn't apologize enough/didn't seem remorseful. i told them all to fuck off and die in a fire more or less and joined these boards - then it was permanent lol

Ah, it was the final bit I don't think I'd heard before, or perhaps I did and am just getting senile in my old age.
