Anyone who wants to make a pc here, I am: eoemud.com/Some of the cooler former staff and one of the former players, has been on staff here, this place rocks if you want to give it a try. It's a mud, an RPI, and the rules are as thus: help rules Rules suck but as we see people do things that don't follow the atmosphere of the mud we'll keep adding. You must be 18 years of age to play EoE. In making a character, you are stating that you are at least 18 years of age. No more than one character per player. Stay in character at all times (ooc should be used very sparingly). If you're link dead and you die, you stay dead. Don't use out of character knowledge in the game. Don't abuse the mud code. Maturity is appreciated. Players are capable of achieving higher ranks here and and a lot more change available on a player level, and a lot more level headed and relatively predictable interactions with the staff there.

Only elves?
And are the boards always under construction?
It seems half finished to me ---- I think the links are a little... non-comprehensive. They sort of skip around and a lot of the pages could be condensed.

It's actually been up and around as long as arm, you have player construction, player plotlines, magick not available to everyone, some types illegal all over, etc, etc, etc. The documentation could be fleshed out a bit more, yes, the boards have an inaccurate link. To be honest, the part that best won me over:
"Although the mud is completely functional, it is still being developed each and every day, with more additions planned for the future, and can be expected in some manner on a daily basis, whether it be descriptions, special request items, or just about anything your mind can think up that fits into the game world. Through the combined effort of the community of players and the staff, the mud itself will always be a work in progress, as we strive to create something bold and unique in flavor. Such additions include vast area building, code changes, new races, mobs, objects and plots. The EoE Staff is quite willing to tailor specific objects to player needs, as valuable role-playing tools or resources from the character’s background. The work that you put into your character is more valuable to us than the little time that it takes to craft an object to assist in your role-playing experience, so this is done quickly and with ease. We appreciate your effort as players, parts of the ever-growing tale, and fellow role-players.
Aside from magic, which is a skill that comes only with the three chosen classes, all other skills are able to be learned by every class. While your inborn talents are likely to fall on a specific path, use of any skills will allow you to 'learn' them."
No spending a year wrestling with the possibility of being able to do or fix or create or destroy something, and if you work at getting better at something, you genuinely will. I love it.

Well I haven't met a single pc yet and the combat seems kinda slow. But having fun so far overall. Look forward to seeing this flexibility though. And staff are really helpful and polite.

Indeed. They have good people. I've known the husband and wife vaguely, and found out later on about a person or two who played arm having helped. The real problem I've seen so far is low population, but we could definitely fix that if enough people decided to support that game or give it a try.

EoE is great. I played a mailman there once. The problem is the mud is huge. Literally thousands of rooms between cities. It's strange. I just remember it being a bit unplayable in that regard.

Just seems kind of restrictive.
What are typical names?

My god I am impressed with the staff. They are animating all the fucking time. When I was hunting they messaged me to tell me how to look diagonal 'peer'. Which makes hunting breezier. That being said while less dangerous than arm I went though my first character in a few hours playtime. Staff literally answers any non stupid question ASAP. Like 'what would I know about this critter?' Never once find out IC about things you should know about being an inhabitant of this city. 12-14 K rooms east to West. North being worked on, apparently. I believe there are ships etc too. A bit simpler than Arm to play but am enjoying it heaps. More peeps should check it out.

As I said, the staff there are really rather wonderful. I love getting the chance to RP with someone from time to time when I'm around on there, too. Hence my post, trying to get player numbers up so it can happen more!

I used to play there. I had a character from I guess it an be called first age when it was two separate muds: Northland and Southlands. I got my old char killed and staff helped me into a merchant type role. Then real life came in and I had to stop playing. Exploration is LETHAL which I loved about the game. No lie..five steps outside of the gate of the Elven city and you can die horribly fast. I got the feeling that alot of people wanted to play special snowflakes even though a majority of the elven population are supposed to be adherents of light/loyal to Queen/ clan blah blah blah. There's a neutral city wherein the player base seems to be focused. It's a great starter point for beginning PC's, I think. I think they should mention that in the starter docs. The world itself is fantabulous with alot of opportunity for rp. They have an insanely responsive staff that are generally great to interact with (at the time I was playing). My only downside was if you played in the main elf city...it can get VERY lonely. Most interactions you have with PC are actually staff avatars. And yes...it's a very mature mud for the grown folks wherein you will/can do adult thingstm.

Their homepage, here, has the address on it: eoemud.com port: 8888. The magick info is here, necessity, is the link you'll be looking for from the homepage.
