I think for us a brief summary of what you had an issue with will suffice. I for instance am banned because I am bad man and if I pop onto the discord I would be kicked in short order.

Now that I am home and doing this you can spoof thusly.. (this took me 5 min to figure out the order of operations) Windows App Developer Mode Enable cipboard history in windows Share screen program only right click user name copy id windowskey+v on way down to message bit click the saved data of the userid you want to spoof ctrl+v To the person watching who can't see other windows pop up it'd look pretty much the same. Thus in general it's still fakeable or can be accused of being fakeable and the amount of onus to prove it exactly the way I want isn't abnormal to say fuck you I gave you what I had believe me or not. EDIT - Same thing can be achieved by just sharing one monitor and having 2 monitors so you could even get away with sharing desktop.
So basically, the way you "spoof" it isn't by editing anything, just by assuming that the viewer is an idiot and wouldn't question any step of this? The simple fix then is that the person doing the validation requests control of the remote host via Skype or Teamviewer and just copies the ID to their clipboard directly.
Sheesh.

The person viewing wouldn't be able to see it, at all. That's kind of the point. It would appear as if someone has clicked copyid and goes down to paste and then pastes. So your solution to even further elevating the validation process we're from...

No I read it. You want screen to screen, I provided screen to screen ability to fake it in real time. If you still have the conversation, you can access the user ID with this tutorial: support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/206346498-Where-can-I-find-my-User-Server-Message-ID-and compare it against the legitimate Shaloonsh. If they're the same, then it's the same user. ^ you started with screenshots and moved up. |

I don't think it's really warfare and ultimately, I don't have a dog in this race other than being annoyed you guys's drama keeps spilling over into the community at large once a quarter and making the rest of us look bad. I think I've said everything that needs to be done here and it's up to you guys to really police yourselves on this and send Jeshin a pair of new readers and a mouse with a functioning scroll wheel. I will say the times I've been in a clan or area with Shabago and Shaloonsh overseeing them were some of the more active, interesting bits of clan interaction I've had well, ever. Also I was never approached for mudsex, mostly to investigate strange things, and help get people on the same page to get the low-down on crazy coincidences. I found it fun and enjoyable, ymmv, fuck, you might hate it. EDIT: And before today I didn't even know who Shaloonsh was, in that light, that's typically what he as a player had my characters doing whenever they worked for him. It was always kind of a cool running series of plots to figure out what was REALLY going down, even if I was terribad at it. This is always what people say about the abusive staff members though, unfortunately. "Sure, X was a complete power-tripping asshole, but at least he ran plots!" I ask people like that to try and separate staff's two responsibilities. One responsibility is game management; the other responsibility is community management. Ideally these roles would be separated to two different groups of people, but they're not, so instead of having PR people and DMs, we have the current staff bureaucracy. Since staff are expected to hold two roles, it's important to expect staff to either do both of those roles well, or stick to the one role they can do well and only do that. Shalooonsh would have been a great staff member if he was only a DM and didn't have a Discord account or GDB account. But he does, so he has to be responsible with them. I'm not saying your post is wrong, just suggesting that it's important to think of the bigger picture when discussing staff behavior. |

Kind of hilarious how much discussion something like this can drum up, though. Namino had the right of it. Pretty much. Nothing is going to change staff-side either, as long as they have their cult following of players who will never leave the game no matter what staff do to them, and the game remains listed on MUD websites. If staff have no (and I use the word very loosely here, Armageddon doesn't turn a profit) "market" incentive to change their behavior, they have no reason to change. If players think the handling of this situation is suspicious, or disgusting, or whatever else, they should step back from the game and tell their own stories if they have any. The reason we're probably not going to see that is because a ton of people will support the staff no matter what. There are and will be games that are better run than Armageddon. |
