The Discord channel's toxicity is mentioned in a ton of negative reviews of the game by people who tried Armageddon and decided to leave. Frankly, the Discord was the last great gift Noted Liar Nergal gave to the Armageddon Destroyers' Club that totally exists. Staff need to reassess how they use Discord as a platform for discussing the game, in terms of fostering positive discussion vs. random textual diarrhea. Shutting it down is as much of an option as shutting down the GDB; it's a white elephant that, if taken away from the players, will drive players' accusations of the staff silencing discussion. Seriously though, a small communications team would do wonders for Armageddon. Speaking for myself, I don't think it would be enough to bring me back, but it would be enough for me to take an interest in public staff communications. Currently this consists of occasional changelogs and role calls, spotted with accusations of dick-stepping. The quality can really only go up from there.
The problem is clearly socializers. You clicky bastards arent happy unless you are demonizing someone.
Of course, demonizing mudsexers is good and righteous. Deviants, the lot of em.

They've made a step in the right direction with the Discord by making a separate Armageddon related only #general, as well as moving both of those channels near the top of the list and putting all the off-topic stuff on the bottom. At least the first thing you see when joining the server isn't some godawful shit-flinging political argument.

I'd be curious to know if that's a relatively recent change (like within the last month) or if it happened longer ago. I think the last time I was in the Armageddon discord was over a year ago, and the shit was floating on top back then. It's a step in the right direction but pushing the caustic crap to the bottom doesn't equal removing it entirely. Non-rejection of a particular behavior is an implicit endorsement. It's been almost a week since Shabago lectured Shalooonsh in public, and there's been no update as to his status as a staff member. |

Like a child stuck in 2011. My god. That was YESTERDAY? This guy ... seriously. You know, I've gotten great responses to problems and such from Draugr. That dude is pretty reasonable and knows how to talk to people without pissing them off. Heck, he manages to talk to pissed off people and make them less pissed. Maybe let him run player-communications for awhile and let Shalooonsh go off and do something he does better (if there's anything). We're getting Nyr-level shit from a storyteller-level asshole at this point. I just see that as a problem. You've got, what, 20 other storytellers who could maybe handle things? And it's clear that, the more pressure that's applied, the more Shalooonsh is losing his grip on what limited chill he has to begin with. |

People mention "anecdotes" here, but I dont really see them. I know he acted like an ass with Shakes. Shakes definitely displays proof of what he speaks of. But for the most part with others, it's just vague statements without substance behind them.
You shouldnt care though, Abuzer. Can you talk about where Loonsh touched you?

I'm going to switch gears and actually DEFEND Shalooonsh for a brief moment. Everyone here knows my experience with the dude, so my defense of him is less likely to be taken for some shill.
The dude runs some FUN plots. He's really got a great imagination and pushes Arm in some ways that everyone else fears to tread. Body horror? Check. Lovecraftian horrors from beyond? Check. Shalooonsh is YOUR GUY for that fun shit.
He's open and clear in his communication. Granted, a lot of his communication lately has been very abrasive and rude, but there's no mushiness there. I had issues with him in requests where he'd encourage my craziness before then animating a clan elder to stomp me flat, but his verbal back and forth is usually crystal clear.
He works hard. Not just on approvals but also in building groups and stuff. If it weren't for his personality flip-flopping and abrasive abuse, I'd be thrilled to be in any group he was running.
Bottom line ... he is a GOOD STORYTELLER.
But they're letting him do too much which ... frankly ... isn't in his wheelhouse. And his admins need to get better control of his behavior. Focus his efforts on what he really does best, and get him to stop all this craziness and abuse. He's a storyteller. The lowest possible staff position that I'm aware of. He has gotten too big for his britches and thinks he can do whatever he wants in this game, and that's the real problem. He needs to be reined in.

no genius when uve got a low level staffer whose idea of humor is shitting on players and is too proud to change his tune whenever he is called out on it then its easy to see how someone with that kind of attitude could do even more stupid shit to run off players like shakes |
