gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,50809.0.html This is either one of you guys trolling, or the most disgusting case of shameless brown-nosing I've ever seen. He might as well go "hey, could I maybe have a point of karma?"

He might as well go "hey, could I maybe have a point of karma?" Neither. I don't really have a horse in this race like I did with the Jeshin thing. It's a simple enough question, and I gave praise where it was earned. I am, in fact, curious first and foremost. To reiterate... Cutthroat has merited praise. Nergal has not as of yet (he hasn't made many posts come to think of it). Any affiliation would be effectual. But to his credit, Nergal did say that he shouldn't have targetted Jeshin on TMC and that he wasn't going to edit his posts to hide having done so. Shrug. Banning me would be a sufficient answer. My history with the staff isn't noteworthy or interesting, but it'd just mean that they wouldn't be able to associate it when I make a new account the next time I feel like playing. And if karma is my intention, I'd probably start with a new account versus trying to get somewhere with my current one. I was pretty stupid from a grinding perspective with at least my first twelve characters and in other harmless but utterly unremarkable ways as well... I was a kiddo when I started playin. I can see how someone can glean passive aggressiveness by reading: Cutthroat is x, you are not, are you really the same? My response is if they are the same, hopefully thinking upon the affiliation will give him as much perspective as it would myself. We're all roleplayers. I've grown very fond of the Cutthroat role. If it continues to go unanswered, maybe the admittedly paranoid sounding 'Nergal is Nyr' theory will earn more credibility - and they would rather let people ponder about the possibility of him being someone other than Nyr.

Also, closing the RAT thread was a mistake. Not having a place to discuss it on the GDB is another mistake.
The most concise argument I can make for the RAT thread, in response to what Nergal said about starting new threads with specific intent, is as follows:
It's called the GDB, not the SDB (specific discussion board).

They're not going to answer you. It's staff policy not to link player accounts with immortal names.

GDBia has always been at war with Eurcartera East Carter.

RAT was a symptom of a larger problem. Many posts on the GDB add little or no value. Many are posters massaging each others egos, some have no point at all, they are just noise. The RAT thread catered to this style of posting of 'fun' that has no purpose or substance other than gratifying the poster. Maybe it was good for collecting garbage and letting posters get it out of their system but then there's no motivation or higher standard for posters to make (or attempt to make) quality, well thought out posts. Less is more. While closing the RAT thread does cut down on the party and fun atmosphere of the GDB, it's absence helps to start setting a better tone overall.

Isn't that 95% of communication at large though? Here's a short story. I've had three different state jobs. The first was at the Department of Revenue doing data entry when I was 16. Everything was keyed twice by different workers for accuracy (pretty standard). People would get post notes when they made mistakes (often). I was pretty competitive, and at times would literally do twice as much if not more than my cube mates despite not being incentived to do so. The supervisor didn't see mistakes a ratio - more mistakes were simply bad regardless. I eventually fell in line with everyone else. That is, I did as little as possible so I didn't receive bureaucratic BS. You're probably thinking typical government story bro, but how the fuck is that relevant? TL;DR reducing GDB activity will reduce GDB bad activity (edit: while true - per the story, this is not good logic).
