There is a difference between staying true to the source material which was designed for a tabletop experience and making a compelling GAME for hopefully 50 - 100+ players. Lets not forget that in all tabletop games that DMs have fiat decision making to make changes and exceptions for the good of their games.

Having all female templars in Nibenay is part of the lore. We may look at changing it in the future but if you don't want to play a female, then don't play a templar in Nibenay.

I find it unlikely the dudes who are too manly to play chicks in an online text video game would be willing to play gay templars who are gay-married to the gay highlord of Nibenay, so we're talking about a pretty hefty lore revamp beyond removing the sex restriction. How about no.

It's not like the game would need 10 templars running around at any given moment. In fact if it were me I wouldn't even have the role open until there was a consistent steady base of players in the city, hence requiring the presence of such a role to be taken on by a player and not remain virtual or NPC.

If you'll notice, our titles on the athasmud forums are DM ;-)

Cheating will of course have to be addressed, as are outright OOC violations but for the most part, staff are just here to facilitate roleplay, not harass the players.

We're currently considering our options on starting locations, my previous thoughts on Nibenay may be swayed. Whatever we come up with, we'll make sure that it's going to be deadly.
