a few people snapped some pics of me at one of the many strongman competitions. I placed 3rd.   The latency is really bad on the ship so I will try to upload some hong kong/dubai stuff tomorrow if I can. |

l in archway the exercise hall [ns] the walls of this large training hall are lined with metal, old steel forms the higher shelves, and plain gray stone the lower floor. a variety of training equipment is haphazardly scattered along the walls, mostly boxes of iron weights and large tires. a used-looking small aircraft takes up part of the east wall here. the balding, low-statted trooper stands here, jealously eyeing the brawny trooper the brawny, fair-skinned trooper vigorously pushes and flips a man-sized tired here the swarthy, dark-eyed runner leans forward here, watching the brawny trooper twink |

They said it was 500 lbs, honestly it felt more like 400 but I've been doing nothing but working out for the past 7+ months so who knows.
The tire evolution was 1 minute to flip it as many times as possible, it was probably the hardest metabolic exercise in the whole competition, I felt like I was going to die after finishing.
As far as the most technical thing the 2nd pic was a 205 lbs clean and jerk for 1 minute. If anyone knows olympic lifting, it's much harder than traditional power lifting or bodybuilding.

The tire flipping picture depresses me because it reminds me of my time on the ship. They color gray has never been the same for me.
edit: I can literally smell the ship chow hall right now.

USS Peleliu (LHA-5), with LHA supposedly standing for "Largest Hospital Afloat". With the Comfort and Mercy in the fleet, that wasn't true, but it was a funny acronym anyway. |

Nice. I know several sailors from the Peliliu on here. I'm on an LHD, another amphibious ship with 3000+ people, 2500 of them being marines that do nothing but work out, eat food, and form lines randomly to confuse us sailors that have real jobs!
note: i respect the hell of the marines, and am just talking shit. they actually do a lot for the ship despite peoples ignorant beliefs.
